A 6yo boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama this morning when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his Aunt, in keeping with child custody law requiring that the family unit be maintained at the highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his Aunt also beat him the same as his parents had done and that he refused to live with her. The judge then suggested that he live with his Grandparents, tthe boy started crying, wailing that they also beat him.
The judge, now sensing that violence was a way of life across this family took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After conferring with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the England Cricket Team, whom the boy believes are not capable of beating anyone.
