Had a couple of hours at the same oval I've been detecting for the past 6 months, hit another sweet spot of coins, seem to be quite a few there, will see how many more I can get over the next few days.

Lucky 13 pre decimals. :D

I'll have to start calling you Sheppard, don't see too many flocks of sheep like that rounded up these days.

Sheep Whisperer, lol. Yeah there are still some good spots there, went reral slow today, they were right among all the junk, think I need a smaller coil for the trashiest spots.

After a clean they came up quite nicely. Poor 1918 Sixpence copped it though, probably extremely rare and valuable knowing my luck.

Ha, wouldn't surprise me. :D

Actually it is a bit of a rarer one, only 950,000 minted, so quite a low mintage? Would have been a good one in better condition.

Had to retieve this from the garbo bin this morning, I knew I got 7 silvers yesterday after having a think about it today, this one was so encrusted in dirt that I tossed it out with the BB's and other trash without noticing it was amongst them. :p Have done it before too, though last time I couldn't find the coin, this time I was lucky that the garbo's came yesterday morning, was easy to find. I remembered when I found it that I said to myself to "double check for this one" as it was so dirty, glad I didn't lose it.

Can't believe how well it cleaned up after being so badly encrusted with dirt.

No swinging today, so sick of rain.

Nice looking coin Heatho,... maybe you should put it in the Feb coin comp mate,... should do well, the retrieval maybe a sign ! ;)

It certainly does pay to check through all your BB'S. I mentioned to the mods the other day that I also found a crusty sixpence sorting through my BB's.

Can be frustrating when you are sure of digging more silvers than what comes out of the finds bag at the end of the session. I've had a couple stuck under the lining of the finds bag, only to realise what had happened after cleaning all the dirt out of it. :|

Yeah it happens hey. I try to keep count as they are coming out and it is frustrating when you know there is one missing. I actually carry a bucket, only so I can put the larger junk such as cans on the surface in there before the council guys turn them to canslaw, still easy to misplace coins when there is heaps of dirt and a lot of BB's in there.

Good finds and coins go straight into my pocket,.... only crap and salvage go into the finds bag. ;)

Sort of the same here, coins go in the bucket but rings go in the pocket unless really dirty, the soil here is black and clayey, I'd get slaughtered for putting dirt like that in my pockets and then in the washing machine, lol.

Another few hours at the same sportsfield again today, had another decent day on the pre decimals, I pretty much went over the same spot again but this time using my own custom "Aussie Pre Decimal" program that I made yesterday while the weather was crook. I had already made it a while back but re edited yesterday and refined it a little. This spot is on the extreme end of junk infested and I thought it would be a good way to test this program, I detected it very slowly the other day trying not to miss any pre dec.

It was a pretty good success using this program, it's not going to stop me from digging junk but it certainly will cut down on listening fatigue with so much trash in the ground and it will enhance good targets out of the chatter and audio clutter of so much junk. I was picking pre decimals straight out with no problem at all and got several coins in the first 15 minutes in the absolute worst spot.

I made 2 patterns for the 1 program, the first pattern does pre decimals, gold rings (basically everything on the11,12,13 ferrous line), sterling silver and goldies. Pattern 2 does just Aussie pre decimals, sterling silver and goldies though all in a very tight discrimination pattern and cutting out a lot of annoying junk audio clutter. You can use these patterns with any other universal settings, especially flicking between "High Trash" and "ferrous-coin" depening on whether there is iron present. The only thing I wish the CTX had was 4 patterns per program instead of just 2, would make a big difference by being able to instantly switch to an open screen as well as my 2 custom ones on the same program to test if Iron is present.

Anyway here's what I managed to find on previously detected ground in about a 10mx10m area, minus all the BB's and junk.
