We had Norton's for about 4 years. We found it extremely coincidental just before the annual "cough up" reminders were received, that our laptop & PC seemed to be bogged down. No stress though as Norton's were kind enough(?) to suggest we sign up to other utilities to alleviate problems like that. This year, enough was enough, so we thought we'd swap to a diff program. As my debit card was replaced earlier in the year, I wasn't too stressed about the renewal as they didn't have my new details. So we wiped our phones, laptop etc of Norton's and all sweet. The reminders kept coming, we just ignored them, then we got an email saying "thanks for renewing" - WTF? Turns out they somehow got the wife's credit card details and hit that up. The wife has never had anything to do with Norton's, and her credit card has never been used for online purchases (we only use debit cards for that).
Something shady there so the bank reversed the transaction.

Cheers, Mad Doctor
Yep same here changed card No. but the must have been able to get the a/c No. luckily the bank rang me up and the money was reversed and the debit to my a/c cancelled... Years ago Norton's was good,,, 30 years that is, trading on their good name from then.

It got us thinking about what other information they mined from our equipment, and what other things may happen down the track. Bit scary really, given they're supposed to be protecting you from that sort of thing

Cheers Mad Doctor

G'day Davent.

I have often complained of this. These National Parks are PUBLIC land, and we are the public. It appears some "public" are allowed to use the park while other "public" are not.
Hobby enthusiasts should be allowed to use the parks as they wish, without doing damage. There are some areas within National Parks in Victoria that are open to deer hunting only, no other hunting. I understand this for safety reasons but I believe there should be areas within all National Parks dedicated to hunting only. Prospectors are often singled out for the "damage" we do when retrieving our nuggets, but there is one other group of people that are able to use the National Parks that cause a lot more damage than prospectors.

When they close off our access to public land then we will all be sitting at home on our phones getting fat and they'll start complaining that we aren't getting enough exercise. Then they can increase the price of sugar or whatever else they can make the scapegoat for the nation's obesity problem.

Regards Axtyr.
