Not exactly sure of the right answer RJ :8
Dirt ... Not sand ... Not clay
Fortunately digging was reasonably easy... A few roots to deal with in amongst the trees
Did i mention the >}#% mossies ? UNBELIEVABLE!

If its not sand and not clay, must be a loam. :D Good going Sandta, always satisfying to go home with a bag full of coins. Will the pre-decs clean up alright, or are they too far gone? :)

So Sandtas been loaming for coins huh,....good haul when they keep on coming like that, keeps the interest rate up high.

Thanks guys , ok .. Loam it is ;)
I think their knackered GP
I havent given up with this spot yet.
Hoping the tree /bushes area will give up more pre decimals
Fingers crossed for more slivers to appear
Just cant deal with the mossies... If theres a speck of skin exposed ( without 3 layers of aeroguard) their on it

Couple of hours spent at another park this morning...
Bloody twist top lids were everywhere  (plenty were just picked up off the top as i walked over them)
I suppose thats expected around the kiosk at sporting ovals
Ran on minimum sensitivity ,only targeting what could be located with the pinpointer and popped with screwdriver

 1951 penny and 1c were unexpected

And a brass flower cupboard/draw knob

Moolah ratio looks about right for a serious hunter Sandta,..you just need to find a 1964 anything about right now.

Good for you Jaros,....will we see a picky of it ?

Hi ho, Silver-remember the 1964 penny you sent to me?? My wife loves it gold plated around her neck.
(you can't have it back--ha ha )
Cheers

Gday all , i went down to a park or a few hours this morning.
Was certainly not what i expected ... Though not complaining :D
Within the first couple of minutes , changing directions , i realised this was going to be challenging :/
I quickly reduced sensitivity to stop the nightmare building in my head
All this was found in the top 3 inches ... It just got worse any deeper
Im guessing it used to be a dump

Brass for the scrap bin
1419116102_image.jpg

$8.90 in spendables , ($1 ,20c ,2c ,1c were in the same hole)

A sparkly owl brooch , 925 ring ( same pattern that is doing the rounds  )

And the first coin found ... 45 mins in ... 2inches deep ... Under the big old tree

Man that sounded like the session from detector hell - and yet to still managed to perservere to find the hidden treasure - well done!

I would go back with the sovereign and notch out a little rubbish - silver is a very high and distinctive pitch and you may be able to fish out a few more florins ?

That Florin made it all worthwhile, tree bases are one of my favourite spots to search around. That's some pile of junk you've got there. :D

agree with Goldpick - I suspect a few of predecimals I find under old trees are coins that have fallen out of pockets as kids climbed above.
Having said that I haven't found a florin yet but would love to - good work Sandta.

Sounds like my trick Sandta, your smelling silver(first coin find) and going straight in for the kill,...couldn't tell you how many times that happens for me, straight to the silver for the first find on a new bit of ground,...you've got the snozzer in on it mate.
