Had a pretty good day out today. New territory for me. I tried the old pub site but just too many nails, screws and lead washers from the roofing. There was a spot with easy pickings close by and it was too tempting. There was very little rubbish and it will give me many hours detecting.

Gotta love the old Chateau Tanunda Brandy, hospital grade :D

The old shilling has a few miles on it.

You did ok :)

Do I sense a tad of jealousy Rocket! :D Fantastic hunt Ramjet, never seen a better Mambo zipper in all my days of hunting. Just kidding, wow, 3 florins is pretty damned hard to beat, and that shilling is also a great find despite being a tad worn. A great mix of coin varieties and dates. :)

I have seen what has to detect........honey holes!

Gotta love small towns. Went to the local museum which was originally a dance hall and soldiers hall. The very kind lady was happy for me to detect but thought I would find nothing.
Got all this in about 2 hours. No silver yet but still a lot of ground to cover. Tha lady was impressed with my finds and I donated them to the museum. Probably the most toasted half penny I have found.

I really should visit my parents more often. Mum has just told me of an empty block of land that used to have an old wooden church.

Good move Ramjet, would be great if you could pick up a few military badges etc for the museum - surely must be some silver there, unless it has already been picked previously.

Looking forward to the church site hunt, should prove to be interesting if never detected in the past. Have you researched the establishment date of the church, just to give you an idea of what era of coins to expect? :)
