Gidday Nucopia,

Sorry mate wrong state/territories. I am in WA.

I have followed most of the Telegraph line south to North. I have some old glass and porcelain insulators/wire stays on my bar to remind me.

Clue

Those that knew of and used me, appreciated my 50 odd highlights.

We did the canning a few years ago now and its a bloody long way. We did it on our own. If you want to see camels and plenty of nothing, hit the Canning.
Very interesting though and definitely a bucket list jobby.

I born overseas, and became governor of an Australian state in the mid 1800s.

I died far from Australia, and was widely celebrated as a hero, but perhaps I was a cannibal too.

Mark Twain also get a mention in Peter Fitzsimmon's, Eureka, The Unfinished Revolution. Another worthy literary work.

The Peacekeeper.

Sir John Franklin
.
Hobart's first Government House, built of timber, was built in Franklin Square. In 1858, because of the collapse of the building, it became a park.

Used as a public park for over a century. A fountain with a bronze statue of Sir John Franklin, Arctic explorer and Governor of Tasmania (1837-1843), stands in the centre of the square. You can play giant chess in the park.

I disappeared.
I caused some dissent amongst the local tribes and it is hinted that this is what attributed to my demise.
To this day, My disappearance has never been solved.
I may be buried in a place that all the rivers start.
