Was it Hahndorf, named after the Captain of the ship Zebra, Dirk Hahn, which delivered German settlers to SA in 1838?. Ironically, Dirk was Danish, but the name of the town was changed during the war to Ambleside. The name was changed back in 1835.

Well done DD , Hahndorf it is , just up the road from where I live 129 Lutheren settlers in 1838 , it is the oldest surviving German town in Australia , it has the oldest Lutheren Church and school , and a great little town to visit !
