GT,
Would it be the Norfolk Island pine at the corner of Holmes Ave and Monash Crescent, Clontarf that remembers the first assassination attempt in Australian history where Prince Alfred was shot by Henry James O'ffarrell on March 12 , 1868?

Sorry Reefer, no.

I am in a warmer climate. A major player in my notoriety camped by me and fashioned a shrine to place the picture of his wife .

I will be out sniffing around Dunolly for most of the day so I will check on the progress of this question and answers later this arvo.

To keep things moving along

Clue

Also in the shrine fashioned in my side , a candle was kept along with other personal items..

Must be slightly google proof.

Clue

I am in a remote part of Australia's north. I am only accessible by sea or air.

Crikey, heres another clue that should end it,

I was the centre of a base camp. The visiting ships captain pitched his tent against me and the ships carpenter gave me an engraving that is still very vivid today.

Hey Peacekeeper,

I can see people are getting a bit over this question.
I am not an alembic and far removed from distillation. I would be also very hard to pitch a tent against and emblazon.
Peacekeeper you have moved some 17-1800 kms too far south mate.

Clue

I was a focal point in the charting of the west coast of WA. The people that camped by my side worked in principle for the famous Mathew Flinders.
I was only discovered and used or utilized so to speak because of unfortunate circumstances.

sorry mate no, read my answers above, might help you track down this elusive piece of our maritime history.
