Mate that is some serious talent. OK I'm not a gem guru but that is pretty damn amazing set of pics. Beautiful.

Golden labradorite ... Looks epic. Did this design that looks like an epellectic cockatoo flew into a spider web . Asymmetric pentagon.. My new favourite stone .

Wow Barney, I was expecting the smokey to look great and it did, but you blew my eyes with that topaz mate... Effin awesome light pattern. The penta labradorite is a WOWer too but you might have a hard time getting it mounted without a custom setting. Maybe you could use some silversmithing training * hint hint * ;) Seeing the pace at which your cutting goes, I bet you could quickly add that to your skillset too!

See,
That's what Im talking about with the cutting for setting. Remember how I showed your sister how to make settings on the faceting machine to make these hard to set shapes easier and cheaper by faceting a wax pattern for casting.
Cut looks great. I won first prize in the Royal Easter Show in 1985 with a pentagon CZ. I love the shape.

Turned out a little better than expected this one . Its already sold and have an order for another! Hope I can keep this up!:)https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/img/member-images/578/1415344191_image.jpg

It's a bloody nice stone Barney - just like all of your work that you've posted :) Everyone at my club is aware that smokey can make a beautiful faceted stone, my mate actually lives in Adelaide and has a geology degree, though has never worked in the area. He comes up to Queensland every year to go fossicking with us.

With a bit of luck I take delivery of my first cabbing machine this week and within a few weeks hope to start converting the old Balinese hut into my lapidary workshop. Dad bought a trim saw last weekend, it will live in my workshop. In the new year he plans to buy a faceting machine which will also live there. With the ability to practice 7 days a week I should hopefully advance reasonably quickly :)

Is that labradorite from Springsure? It looks like the colour of the Springsure stuff.

Sure is lefty ( from Springsure ) I only have one piece left! ..... Got any for sale ? Long way for me to go:)

Sorry Barney, I've never actually been to the digging site myself. I have been meaning to call in there for ages, it's on the way home from my claims via an alternative route back to Gladstone. Might take an extra day to get home next time and call in for a bit of a scratch :) .

what I was hoping was this was going to be my light at the end of the tunnell .... But... So many cracks . 200 carat these green quartz , think ill be lucky to get maybe two stones at three carat out of them :(
Anyway they should look good. Biting the bullet and going to go dig , desperate times call for desperate measures .. Like digging yourself into a deeper hole ... Literally ! :)

Mate hasn't shown up to pick me up for a dig yet! So recut an ametrine that was lying about ( out of a crappy ring with crappy cut , chipped , included ) s didn't take a before shot ( for gods knows how many times now ) but hid inclusion in a crafty floral pattern...:)
