Hi Folks has anyone done a 3 day gold course in WA.
Costs about $800 a head and gives you access to their leases??
If you did was it worth it??
Cheers.

It's worth it if you're doing the course with a reputable company or operator. There are a number of things they would teach you about finding gold legally and successfully including using your detector and staying safe in the bush, a good course will probably teach you as much in 3 days as you would learn in 3 years if you don't have exeprienced friends to guide you.

When I first got serious about detecting I booked a 5 day Goldrush Camp with Lisa and Tony at Leonora but unfortunately Covid hit and WA closed thier border so I couldn't get there, I was very disappointed, but I was lucky to have my brother and a few other experienced prospectors to help me learn enough and gain a bit of confidence in what I was doing.

Yes if your getting into gold detecting and heading to WA it is well worth it, I can recommend Goldtalk Leonora (Lisa & Tony) as have done course with them, you will get a great heads up on using your machine, WA regulations, using Tengraph and other resources. On the ground training, as well as all the very well presented in-house info and lots of notes. On completion you get access to large area of country to detect on.

I was thinking of the Leonora course. Some guys from the Adelaide Detector club have voiced an interest in doing a course next year.
You’re probably referring to Goldtalk in Leonora, run by the highly respected local Toni Pilkington. Toni has extensive knowledge and experience, and if you take his course, you’ll also gain access to certain leases, which is a great advantage.

One area where Toni (and possibly Lisa, as far as I’m aware) doesn’t place as much focus is in-depth training on how to fully utilise the functions of Minelab’s GPX 6000 and GPZ 7000. They provide setup assistance with their preferred settings, but they don’t go into the advanced features and customisation options these detectors offer.

That’s where I come in. My specialty is helping prospectors get the most out of these detectors by teaching them exactly how to use their functions effectively to maximise their gold finds. While I can certainly teach many other aspects of prospecting in WA, my focus is detector-specific training, ensuring users fully understand and master the settings and capabilities of the GPX 6000 and GPZ 7000.

Both courses offer great value, depending on what you’re looking to learn!
