Hi Wall, just a quick question, if I'm going for just gold would you still recommend the bread crate section or standard sloped expanded all the way down?

Cheers,
Paul

I would run the bread crate to the end of of the sluice and the sloped expanded from the end of the slick section to the start of bread crate.

Good luck with the sluice Paul and hope the gold cooperates,

Wal.

Hi wal I just joined the forum but have seen your YouTube vids and left a comment on one... Do you still have one of these high bankers for sale and how much?

Cheers

I'm doing limited numbers for forum members Tyson, so when get up the 10 posts to enable the PM function send me a PM and i can have a chat with you about them.

Cheers Wal.

Thanks for that Wal, I'm thinking about going down the recycling water route, as there is no water on the land, what size pump would you recommend? Thinking about 12v as we have batteries and solar panels? Would like your thoughts on this please

Thanks again
Regards
Paul

Walbanker finally up and running attacking Gold at Windeyer.

Lucky to have 3 boys to help run the paydirt!

Lessons learnt:

Next time gloves would be a great idea.

There is a lot of dirt between Gold. 25m of hose was perfect for this location.

Walbanker and Honda pump performed flawlessly!

Its bloody exhausting work.

We have to clean up the concentrate to know exactly how much we extracted from that creek. Pics to follow......of course!

Great to see you getting amongst it guys. Just an observation...what size pump are you running, WX10 or 15?? The spray bar should deliver enough force to keep 2 guys continually shoveling with no hands (Gloves) needed in the hopper section.

You should be able to chuck that full 20l bucket of dirt into the hopper and just rake out the washed gravel.

Look forward to seeing the cleanup mate, hope the area had plenty of hidden gold.

Wal.

Hi guys just gettin my hi banker inspired by the walbanker ready to go, just wondering what size pumps you are all running? My box is 1200 long by 300 down to 270 wide and also if any one would be keen to share a few places I could take her for a dig.. I currently head to porters retreat Oberon, have panned a bit of colour and a few small gems but I'm hoping to find some nice nuggets... Lol Also keen to learn a bit from one of you clever gold hunting gurus?

Hi 'Digginholes',

I take it you're new in the forum? (only 1 post at the time of this reply). Where are you based?
You could put an intro here --> https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=18
You could also put your first name and general location in your profile details :)

I'm upgrading my own sluice from Mk3 to Mk4 -- latest mods largely inspired by Wal's wonder as well. Mine is a tad larger when assembled, but pretty darn close considering I built it without reference to anything similar. One of the areas I've been considering includes a few spots roughly south-west of Oberon, but I've yet to visit that region with a gold pan :)

Cheers,
Dave E

PS. I only started posting in the forum this year -- but I am pretty happy with the crowd here -- so far ;)
My intro is posted here --> https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4221

PPS. Wal uses a Honda WX15 for his HB. Everybody who tries it swears by it.
Managed to get my pump (non-Honda) for under $250 a couple of years ago.
Same inlet and outlet sizes (1.5 inch) with output rated 14000 litres per hour.
(this listing is same as mine = http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200394974312)

Hi Wal,

Running a brand new WX15. I was trying to minimise the revs till run in.

The youtube video looks as if there was not much pressure but it was spraying with plenty of force. Also that bucket getting hand fed in was from the bottom of a crevice and had clay in it so we were being extra carefull with that lot.

From pump to spray bar is 1.5 inch the whole way through. Is it advantageous to reduce the spray bar down to 1 inch black poly pipe? At the moment my spray bar is unable to be relocated to the other two holes. I will mod that before the next outing. And thanks again for your and everyone else's help in my build and gold recovery.

Was our first time out, will over time learn to read the flow of gold in the creek and should increase the gms.

Another lesson learnt. My panning is not perfect, I am repanning the concentrate and still finding the odd flake of gold! Wonder how much went over the edge at the creek? DOH!

The loot....................

Honda WX15 Pump is Go. Off to Mudgee Area tomorrow and will test out new Walbanker.
... Looking forward to it!

Hey Stone ... Looks great mate :)
The pump looks like a real beauty!

Mine is probably twice the weight for the same throughput.
(my choice was more economy rather than weight I guess)

Dave,

A pump is a pump as long as it starts and pumps the water. I am sure if fresh oil is kept up to it will serve you well. I am lucky enough to be able to do a few OT shifts to pay for the Honda.

Looking forward to seeing yours in action!

Hope I find that much :) I'm going out Sunday to give mine a go :) I worked out I can get about 600kg dirt each trip , how much dirt did process a guess :) I hope for more than you got maybe :)

Hi Stoney,

Great pics of your loot mate. Very nice!
Those flakes look fairly coarse to me -- but I guess I'm used to very fine gold in the Shoalhaven.
Windeyer area yes? ... That's another area I've been considering myself, but yet to make the trip.

Cheers,

If you're running a single tier sluice I'd be looking at a pump that can deliver at least 200L/min. For a 2 tier sluice you can get away with 150L/min.

Wal.

Hey Col,

We spent 2 days shovelling (full 8 hours), filling buckets and processing. I am not sure about amount of dirt but a bloody lot as we had 4 of us working. I thought there would be more for the effort but maybe that was because we were not in an ideal spot?

We done about 4 clean outs per day as a bit of a test to the spots we were digging. The best clean out came from behind a 3 foot long rock bar dug about 1 ft deep to the clay and 1 foot back. We tried a few test pans at the front of the rock bar but got nothing, the gold was an the downstream side.

Mate I hope you do get twice our amount then you can PM me your secret spot!!!!!!!!

Mine up in mount Isa I expect maybe 3-4 grams/ ton or more , I have a plan to shovel 750kg dirt and drive to the water :) I hope for 3 grams or so since I got maybe .5 gram in 4 buckets last trip . hard trip in the 11 km from location 2 water takes a hour and half driving

Much better off reducing to 1" spray bar as this will dramatically increase the spray pressure from the bar. Running 1 1/2" strait through doesn't allow for any pressure build up. The reduction to 1" will smash that clay up no end.

Would it be possible to take enough water and containers etc to set up recirculation system?
I figure it will be more effort to take the mountain to the water, than the other way around?
Just an idea ;)

Yes Dave Windeyer, I would imagine that every creek and river in the district had gold in it. Its a matter of finding where its concentrated most. There is bugger all water there at the moment as well.

Uh Huh. Thanks Wal, I will get that happening before the next outing and that will allow me to move the spray bar and move the inlet to the left or right of the box depending where the water is from.

I also only had the catwalk mesh next to the skid plate. I will source some sloped mesh when I come across it.

It worked well with almost all of the gold getting trapped in the mesh. Then there was bugger all in the middle bread crate and my small section of bread crate at the exit had nothing in it except for 1 of the clean outs. I wonder how much if any made it out the end??
