Still a work in progress,... only had clr so far, with about five changes of liquid and a gentle hand wash under water in between them(maybe a little persuasion with the fingernail on occassion).
you can see the rust going over time.

Hey silver..in post #1033 has the 20c coin had an endge hammering like someone's gone to make a ring out of it? Or is iy just the shadow making the lip look bigger.

Thanks for showing the clr cleaning. Takes some time will it come up fully silver in the end or do they still hold some tarnish

I think it's just a trick of the light AR,.... here is the same coin(it was still on the top of the pile) cleaned up a bit with a tea towel(don't tell Mrs Silver).

I'd say it was dropped looking pretty mint, and that's why the edge looked raised,... you can see the side is still nice, so it never took a beating at all.

And we'll have to see what happens with that shilling,.. I'll get that rust off first, then see what I can do about the rest ,... depending on the condition of the coin under the crud,... if it looks like it could be a really good coin I'll wait before I do any more untill my skill levels meet the demand placed on them,... rather wait ten years and be able to do it properly than rip $$$$ off it in a naive sense of ability that's only thought to be there.(still upskilling)

Cheers mate. I've made a few 20c into rings and from the angle it seemed the lip was deeper but misperception
Hope it clean up good..ill have to get me some CLR.

Edit: just looked up diy CLR and will give em a try. Vinegar, lemon juice, borax, washing soda, bi-carb..probably not as strong but I've used them before

Got out for twenty minutes this morning just for junk though,...a zero coin hunt(ha).
I ended up picking up some glass just to make me feel better about it all,... had to be productive in some manner to do good.

There was an iffy signal there as well that could be a deep 3d,... will have to dig a bit deeper next time(ha),... was gunna, but it was a bit fadey from different angles and sometimes not there at all, but I did have the sensitivity right down(due to jupiter apparently Heatho)

Here is the 1914 shilling from above,..once again, only CLR, with daily renewal of the liquid.

And here it is again with a few extreme closeups.
Notice the pearls, edging, reeding and just the general fine detail that's starting to expose on it(even the emu feathers) .
I recon this coin was dropped almost new,.. so I will probably leave it at that for this one for the time being.

Was scungeing through this years finds bucket(2ltr Icecream) for a bit of moolah,...thought I'd better check all the old 5c coins before I spend any,.... found this one lone coin out of them all,... that made it worth the look.

Yep, I think it's just gunna be a keepsake Paul,.... a reminder of how I often get down on my hands and knees amongst the prickles and Dig $h!te to reap slim rewards from a Hobby that eats time like a whale bingeing on a krill wave.
