Yeah looks like there is a lot of Iron in the soil Silver, sure has attached itself to those coins. Try the Foil soda bi carb boiling water trick, it may just do it, those coins I had trouble with needed CLR and the foil bi carb method twice and they are almost clean.

That old fellas still ripin up parks left right and centre phantom,... bless his old heart though,... cause only god knows which parks now,.... took all his secrets with him too. 8.(

I will give that a go on the1922 sixpence, and I will go with the heavy solution on the one that can't be read yet,.... and we will see the results. ;)

Just a little hunt,.... a bit of spending money. :)

the brittania is 1887 I recon.

Maybe it will happen again,... by the way, that 1887 turned into a 1937,... shoulda jerried that it had a king on it on the other side(ha).

Finally got sundays hunt up(at long last) :/
I think this is an old shoe horn.

Kodak film canister cap from the good old days when they were made of lead.
1442224821_sam_3115.jpg

Small Decimals(bah) :p
1442224821_sam_3116.jpg

Any Predecimals(yeah). ;)
1442224821_sam_3117.jpg

Four nice little silvers for the hunt. :D
1442224822_sam_3122.jpg

And here they are all cleaned up,... although that's as good as I could get that wheaty 3d even with a harsh bi-carb scrub.

Awesome day hunt silver! That Kodak lid has gotta be old.. I'd be looking into that one. Kodak were the first to create colour photography and it would be interesting to know if the lid was before or after the colour. Unless Kodak was only colour and not around for b&w which I'm unsure of..

I havnt dug dirty silvers..is it tarnish or dirt?

I am RKT,...did even better today, but, that's another story. :D
Edited in the cleaned silvers photo in the above post too. :D

A bit of both AR,.. if it's just dirt, that just about wipes away with a very short soak in CLR and a light art brush brushing away,.... if it's tarnished a longer soak will most times get it off,... if it's a natural attrition of dirt born grime thats found its way aboard via natural electrolysis within the ground water over an extended period of time, it tends to need all the above and then a generous (gentle as can be in the circumstances) wipe/rub with bi-carb that has been mixed into a paste(like dryish penut paste"not the oily smooth type").
And about the Kodak,... we'll probably have someone on the forum find a fossilized one next(still in the rock) they been around that long(maybe)
Looks old though hey. ;)

That's what I was thinking yesterday and today,... But alas,.... no amount of wanting or willing made menifest my Florin,.... scored five silvers today though(photos tomorrow). :D ;)

Thanks Heatho. :D ,.....here's yesterdays hunt results photos(as promised).
We'll start with "The decimal collection",... and a fob centre and a clock part.
1442277208_sam_3148.jpg

The clock part.
1442277209_sam_3150.jpg

The fob centre.
1442277209_sam_3152.jpg

The other side of the fob centre,... for some reason I like finding those fob centres(maybe it's the super fine gold layer that some have on them that holds appeal for me,.. or the gems that flouresce red under UV light).
1442277209_sam_3154.jpg

The PDs(with 5 "FIVE" silvers) and a junker kids ring that lost its glass stone "bobby dazler".
1442277210_sam_3155.jpg

I think the stones been gone for a while(didn't stop me combing the dirt in hope though "ha" even for glass).
1442277408_sam_3156.jpg

Couple of halfs(nothing stand out amazing at all,.. except I was in the running for a 1923).
1442277409_sam_3160.jpg

Couple of pennys(what will they look like after another hundred years in the soil) :/
1442277409_sam_3161.jpg

And of course the good bit,.... THE SILVERS,.... (bent 43 was like that already,... Honest "ha").
1442277409_sam_3163.jpg

And the money shot,.... clean silvers,.... although that bent 1943s 3d didn't want to loose that black stuff at all with CLR,... might let the young fella straighten it and give it a bi-carbing,... a good exercise in self control with a fullfilment topper. :D ;)
1442277410_sam_3165.jpg

I enjoyed the hunt,... happy to have gotten more silvers than the day before,.... life only gets better and better(ha). :D
