The cricket authorities that allowed sledging to become part of the modern game should hang their heads in shame.
The current ball tampering controversy is only part of the lowering of standards in Australian cricket.
It has become as bad as tennis, where players can abuse match officials and destroy rackets in temper tantrums. And all acceptable as part of the modern game.
The Australian captain, vice captain, one opening batsman and 3 bowlers were all part of the plan to cheat. THEY SHOULD ALL GO!

A part of me feels sorry for Bancroft.

I feel for Tim Paine. Its every cricketers dream to captain your country....but not when it occurs like this!
He will probably find himself the next long term captain if Smith and Warner cop lengthy bans.
Unless they bring in a specialist Sheffield Shield captain to take charge like George Bailey or Moises Henriques.

Ouch! Footage just released of Bancroft sneaking sugar into his pocket at a test not too long ago.
So hes done it before and obviously been covered up and condoned.
It gets worse and worse.

There are far more important things going on in the world that could do with some of the media frenzy.

A little perspective would be nice

But this is a cricket thread about the disgraceful goings on in our natural cricket team and is the only rightful thread here to frenzy them on.
I havent finished frenzying them yet. :Y:

As for your casting stones line...I take offence to that. I categorically deny that I have ever cheated or ball tampered as an Australian test cricketer

Madtuna - that could be very innocent. Many of us have played cricket at all various levels.
Ive filled my pockets with lollies and even sugar sachets at times to try and give myself a psychological boost with a sugar rush out on the field.
Not a great look but its probbaly nothing.

Ahh thanks Boyd. As I said previously a part of me feels sorry for Bancroft so I hope thats it.
I never played cricket, couldnt hit kick or bowl a ball to save me life but loved watching the game and envied those that could.

Hmm.... from a politician.....who spend their entire lives lying and cheating, can we ban them from politics if they are caught out?

But to put this into perspective, it is not new, nor is it only Australia, Atherton with sand in his pocket, DeVilliers with mints, with all the 'media hype' the ridiculous amount of money in sport today, and our even more ridiculous 'value' on celebrity (mostly so some business can sell us something we don't want or need!) these things are bound to happen! I think realistically they should be sacked...for the sheer stupidity of thinking they could get away with it these days, with 4 camera's on every player!

Time to draw a line in the sand.
It's time to clean up test cricket.
Rub Clark, Warner, Bancroft and co. out for good.
Australia should set an example for the rest of the world to follow.
(Except for India and Pakistan who never do anything wrong).

We are not the first team to tamper with the ball, wont be the last either. Technically, throwing the ball into the pitch deliberately returning to the keeper does a similar thing and you can be warned for it.

Its not like the game was thrown or there was match fixing happening.

No one should be banned for life, thats absurd.

Murali chucked the ball and got a ton of wickets, thats cheating but he wasnt banned for life and his wickets are in the history books. What about match fixing on the sub continent and even the South Africans using a lolly to shine the ball?

This SHOULD all blow over soon unless the media continue to attack their own. As they do.
