Time to draw a line in the sand.
It's time to clean up test cricket.
Rub Clark, Warner, Bancroft and co. out for good.
Australia should set an example for the rest of the world to follow.
(Except for India and Pakistan who never do anything wrong).

Funny, I nearly did the same, you did mean Smith, not Clark didn't you? :p

Don't sweat the small stuff, we all do it, well I do anyway

Sport it isn't sport any more it is the almighty dollar that rules.
Today they are saying Smith could lose multi millions $'s with this low level of gamesmanship.
The media, the average Aussie cricket/sport lover are going to have a field day, and rightly so, when they return to Australia.
Take no prisoners, investigate and then sack and ban everyone involved from cricket for life.

A very sad day for Australia and all our up and coming young sportsmen/women who look up to this level and dream of being part of it one day.

No one should be banned for life, thats absurd.
This SHOULD all blow over soon unless the media continue to attack their own. As they do.

Can't believe I'm reading your comments, you should be ashamed of yourself, "This SHOULD blow over..."
So you condone cheating???

I was talking this over today with seven mates after golf and the general consensus was that all involved should be banned from any professional sport for life. There was only one guy that said it was a bit of a beat up, he was of the opinion that everyone else does it so it is fare game for us to do it too. This guy is also a known golf cheat that seems to have no problems bending the rules of golf if it will help his score.
If the authorities don't come down hard on these guys, starting with Lehmann, cricket will never be the same in Australia.

I love me cricket, sat up and streamed the whole thing on Chromecast.
So from what I saw, on tele, and the press release, was the leadership group sat down and planned it. Then delegated the new bloke to do it.
That is not only shameful, but gutless.
The new bloke will have known its wrong, but do it anyway to get browny points, or just not question the leaders.
Makes me wonder about the tape on Warners fingers....makes me question Starcs ability to get those big reverse swinging balls, not just from this test either....
I'm gutted. The baggy green they wear is as much mine as theirs. They get the honor of wearing it , but we all own it. It bears our coat of arms. It represents me.
I will never be able to admire Smith,Warner,Bancroft, Starch....pretty much the whole lot of em.
I love it when we win, but not at all costs.

When we lost the ashes to England, Flintoff and Brett Lee.....sportsman ship.

Not as a frikkin cheat he wont.... I betchya, that wasn't in ANY contract.....
If you willingly cheat, try to change the course of the game in any way, if you have sex the night before the game and its caught on camera, your contract is void...
Aww OK, the sex bit might have been in the contract,,,but FFS....

I don't think anyone condones cheating but we need to get our heads out of the sand. No it's not the first time ball tampering has occurred & it probably won't be the last. Not only unsportsmanlike but just plain dumb!
Ban for life? I don't know - not sure about that. Why do we have to take the high moral ground when others have been caught, in some cases more than once, before? The penalty needs to be harsh for all! Loss of captaincy, lengthy bans & so forth but I will accept what the appropriate governing bodies put down as the penalty as they've done before. They must set harsher penalties for all not just us & they need to be set in stone to deter, not just a slap on the wrist.
Thinking that we Australians are the fair haired wonder boys of world sport that do no wrong is half our problem. Already a story out from a cricketer that this type of thing is common.
Australian sport is full of scandal - take your pick: drugs, match betting/fixing, salary cap rorts, under table payments etc.
I bet the NRL & AFL are quietly happy this is keeping the spot light off any indiscretions at this time of year.

Pull your head in. Do you think Murali should have been banned for life? Du Plesis? Any number of people who have been banned for a match for other reasons?

I dont condone cheating, but banning someone for life for something that had NO effect on the game is ludicrous.

Boy's as captain of this thread I ask what would Richie do, so together with the leadership group. You have been busted. Yes it's in print.

Nightjar you bowled a bouncer and you hit Tiezto hard and he is a new member. We have not meet but I like your posts and your are a WA man, the hard man from the West, old school, knowledgeable but we live in a new world.

Tiezto, welcome don't be affended or suprised if you get this sort of feedback, your own comments look like statements that many may disagree with. I don't think it will blow over, the underarm hasn't. I hope it will change the game if life ban is given, it will at least to the player concerned.

From the captain go a bit lighter and if you are getting likes you are on the right track, don't get me wrong you comments are being hear and you have fair points to raise.

Ok boy's let's play fair this is cricket after all

Apart from "bodyline" which in itself was legal at the time, when was the last time a team ( not an individual ) conspired to cheat ? I think that's why there is so much anger over this episode, if Bancroft had done it on his own he would have copped a fine etc., and that would have been the end of it, but this was a conspiracy from at least the captain, vice captain and Bancroft and now from the look of it, the coach was in on it as well.
That is totally unacceptable and a massive penalty must be paid to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen again, and a life ban from all professional cricket, I believe , would be appropriate

There have been several mentions of a certain player from an Asian country that has the "honour" of being the highest wicket taker. He was called by the umpires at the time for throwing, political pressure from the country involved was brought to bear with threats of leaving international cricket,( money talks ) the result was the umpire that had the balls to call him was hung out to dry, and the rules were changed so he could keep on playing (cheating)

just my 2 cents worth atm
