Trevor Chapple paid the price and what he did was actually legal, bowling under arm?
The paper a few days back showed an interview saying his marriage broke up, lives in rented accommodation, he lost everything, not a day goes by with out someone referring to the incident 30+ years ago.
His comment about the latest, involving cheating was that at least his incident will rate second now.

It's definitely going to be a hard long road back for Australian cricket, who is going to be able to pull the team together to raise the morale?
If the coach and others players/bowlers were not aware of the plan it would never be possible for the gang of three to get back into the side?

Mate good post.
I dont think its about pulling the team back together??! (Australian Cricket is stuffed for the foreseeable future.) Millions of people worldwide need to get over this...how???

Alan Jones said, if the coach didnt know about it, well he can go too....he is supposed to run the side??

Our Foreign minister, sends Russian diplomats home, as world wide condemnation of an acid attack in another land....??
The Russian ambassador say this is a ridiculous action and is drawing more media attention than your cricket scandal.....???

With whats going on already and what they will walk into when they get home in a few days, what does worry me is Ive seen blokes end their lives for much much less.
The old adage the bigger they are the harder they fall springs to mind.

No matter what, I hope they can tough it out.

It's all becoming a bit of a bore to me but I suppose the media will stretch it out for weeks

What is boiling my blood at the moment is the online trolls (cowards) going after the partners of the offenders/cheats, might be just me, but that's not on, nor is it cricket!!!

Turnbull would be wise to just be quiet, and let the media run with the cricket for a while, 29 negative polls.....he might get the boot too!

I was keeping out of this but. I think the reaction to all this just shows how much we value our cricket team. Probably way more than any other national team or even Olympic atheletes. Theyve made a massive mistake, as have many before them. Ive made many as Im sure most on this forum have in the past. Itll take time but I do think everyone should be given a chance to redeem themselves.(as long as they havent actually done reall bad *****). Which in my eyes they havent.

Bjay, in my eyes, its pretty bloody bad *****.
I think one thing it has done, is highlight how or where Australia is and is heading.
A super competitive, win at any cost, self centred society.
This crap has to stop, and stop now IMO.

So its been confirmed it was sand paper not sticky tape.

You cricketers, is there any reason why a cricketer would have sand paper in their kit? Touch up a rough spot on their bat maybe?
Or is it something youd purchase before hand at Bunnings so you could tamper with a ball at your next test match?

I hear ya. But the way I see it is there guilty of being stupid. Every team in the past has in some way shape or form tried to alter the ball , the difference is in the way its done. Grow a fingernail a bit and scratch it up in that way. Always been done and always will. At least there not drug cheats who will get a couple of year ban and then be allowed back. Guilty yes, stupid Yes. Bad people no, bad call yes.

I guess I take things a bit personally at times.
Some of my best childhood memories are sitting in Nana's sun room watching the summer with her and Ritchie Beneau.
I remember in primary school/watching Australia out in a test for 116.....an ashes test.
I remember Rodney Hogg bowling as fast or faster than DK Lillee did!
I remember the crowds of terry towling hats and zinc cream noses and the crowd yelling have a go you pommy bastads!
Lillee Lillee! ! Then T h o m o o o......
When the rebel team went to South Africa, no pay TV, waiting to see what happens in the news paper, just a small score card near the horse racing guide.

I'm a cricket tragic, and now I'm 50, and still sit up late to stream it on Chromecast.

I was so disappointed after following these blokes all my life! The The Chappells, all the Marsh's, the big names and smaller names, Peter Toohey, Bruce Yardley, Rick Darling, Terry Alderman, Allan Border, Gaeme Wood, Merv Hughes, the Waugh's, Gilchrist, Hayden, Brett Lee, Warney, Boon, Martyn,Symonds, and I would include Smith and Warner.....but they stuffed it! All those years of playing hard! The great teams, and not so great teams, followed it every summer all my life!

What a let down.

Cricket was my escape from school, from work, from recessions, from Oil wars, from idiot politicians, from idiot rugby league players pissing in their own mouths, and now its joining those ranks....

to the cricketers better grip on the ball less dropped catches , suggest you smear a little silicon in the palm of you hand sprinkle sand on it let it cure that would be hard to see, better still do it to your pants rubbing and always polishing the ball a bit of sand and a bit of wax make that ball swing maybe a rule change new ball every 4 overs

Surprised Boof got off scott free. Radio down to the ground - Quick boys they are on to us hide the evidence. Not sure if thats quite the leadership the team needs at the moment.
Apologies Boof - didnt look good at the time but good to see this was isolated to the players involved.

You forgot Mr Walker Dave, A've a good weekend :Y:. Tangles was and still is a legend in my book also Lenny Pasco and Lawson those were the days. Not only have these clowns embarrassed themselves their families and our Nation they have totally disrespected the legends who made our Nation a force to be reckoned with when it comes to cricket.

Billy Birmingham should make a come back and give us a laugh that will act as a reminder for a long time to come. I still love listening to the 12th Man to this day.

Maybe Ive been watching too many whodunnits but it certainly points to Warner ....

Is it extreme anger because of the drama with him in the last test ...?

Sandpaper .... What the

Yeah, I think Warner has pushed the limits, from Joe Root, to just being a loud mouth in general, came up the ranks too quickly IMO, has amazing talent, but is just to loose at this stage in his career.
