Hello, was recently looking at a used GPX 5000 in SA on a well known trading site that seemed to be a really good price. Anyway to cut a long story short the serial number and code wouldn't verify with Minelab and details about where she said she bought it didn't check out when I rang the shop. Now she has blocked me for asking too many questions about the machine. It may still be genuine and down to a mistaken memory or even a typo so don't want to accuse this lady but please be careful out there..

Thanks, Will help other buyers.
I purchased my 2nd hand 5000 in SA last year, did the serial Number checks also checked the purchase receipt and spoke to the buyer about his detecting background. All Good ( he threw in some extra gear) No detecting experience along with the receipts and good serial number would still be sus as the detector could be stolen and not reported.

I am very guilty of misplacing ( loosing ) receipts. If I ever buy anything I think will have re sale value will have to change that habit.

Take a pic of the receipt with your phone and email yourself a copy with a title that's the name of the item. The email can stay with your other received emails and shouldn't be too difficult to find if/when needed.
