The media and all, It seems to be getting a bit overboard now.
I do not believe in beating someone whilst they are down.

We all make mistakes, let us not cast stones, that is what got us in this mess in the first place.

Everyone does deserve the right to redeem themselves, especially if they are remorseful.

Even Tiger Woods still has Nike sponsoring him, and what he was doing was on another level.

These sponsors just prove all they care abut is the hype, not the actual athlete themselves. How about give them a chance, and stand by your product, through thick and thin.

Just my days 2 cents

i dont like cricket
but they stuffed up and they know it
i feel sorry for the wives/girlfriends that had nothing to do with any of it
so i think the media has done the damage worse then the tampering deserved so all i can say is

Cricket is just too slow Dave, although some of my closest friends love it, and just have to get back to the car radio every now and then when we are out detecting to get an update. Aussie rules is my game. Go Cats.

I don't hold cricket above other sports, to me they are all the same and I have played most. Cheating is cheating, if it is unintentional then I think there should be a penalty, if it is deliberate then it escalates to another level and no punishment is severe enough.
Deliberate cheating places winning above the sport itself, anyone that stoops that low has no right to be on the field ever. Anyone that could accept a trophy after cheating has absolutely no pride or self esteem.

I feel for the guy...also, not that I condone violence and am certainly not advocating it, but if a certain journo happened to be accosted while walking back to his car and copped a punch in the Face, Id probably have a bit of a chuckle to myself.

I've watched and loved the cricket all my life, my uncle is a cricket tragic and was successful first grade cricketer leading his side as a captaining bowler to a number of finals wins. I had the privilege to share some time on the ground with him during those years and caught the cricket bug early. So what you may ask? Well I grew up believing in sportsmanship, pride in performance, and wining in the spirit of the game.

So when I watched these players take to the international stage right from those early days I had a sense of pride and respect watching them go into battle. And watching these men represent their country in the face of adversity, showing courage, determination, grit and sportsmanship playing at the elite level. There's something magical about that, the drama, the theater, the thrill, sometimes even the heartache. And for all that time right up until this I thought the Australian team did it fairly.

Before this broke, throughout all the scandals and other international cheating I had believed the Aussies were above it. Still do. We took our lumps and our success without the stain of cheating. That takes real guts, character, even when it's happening around you. And that is why, to me, this is outrageous, and utterly unacceptable. It's not just a poor decision or series of decisions, it is utterly disrespectful to the history and the spirit of the game, to your team mates and to those who came before you.

I've been around long enough now to see them all come through the ranks and on to the international stage, all fighting for their places. I feel for them to have this spotlight cast upon them, they are human after all, but such is the consequences, they knew if they were caught what would transpire.

Personally I'd like to see them banned for life from international cricket matches. Harsh yes, but if you cannot play in the sprit that Australian cricket is played in then you need to leave. This is not a forgive and forget issue for me, once you've been caught cheating then it will always be in doubt. Let them play shield, IPL if they will have them, I have no issue with that just hand back the baggy green. I'm sure they still have plenty to offer cricket and I would not deny them that, nor would I openly attack them. It's simply a case of you cheated plain and simple, and cannot represent Australia as the punishment. Better yet if they just stood down of their own account.

There is no doubt what was done is wrong, very wrong and in so many ways BUT ............... I have seen others walk away from murder and rape for far less a sentence than those involved will serve. Those involved will carry this to their grave and their families along with it. The disregard and zero care factor shown in front of Warners two small children by the media in the clip I saw with Warner as he was leaving the airport, far exceeds their wrong doing. In my eyes any crime or wrong doing by an adult to a child is intolerable. We are not just talking young here they are basically toddlers and watching the fear and confusion on their faces ................... just so wrong. The media ? Well I guess they were just doing their job and doing it badly, Warner was doing his job and did it badly also, but his children did nothing. Your not allowed a golliwog anymore or even smack a child on the bum as it may create or cause trauma in a childs life. Heaven forbid. But this is allowed ? I'm glad I can earn my wages without effecting the innocence of a child. Cheatings a low act and doesn't make me a happy man, the way those reporters treated those children would have made me a very violent one.
Beat the man up if you will but don't do it in front of his little children. My old mum god bless her, always taught me that two wrongs a right doesn't make.

Here's another thing to think about when people say the punishment is too much.

Think about blokes like James Pattinson.
A superstar for sure. Rests up for a year to get ready for the ashes, due to injury. Then the injury keeps him out for a bit longer, another 12 months or more!
How much money has he missed out on, and his replacement will make it difficult to get back into the team.

Look at the damage that the SA 3 have done as an injury to Australian cricket......12 months is not to long IMO.

The coach has now resigned.

As he should have, the head of Cricket Australia, James Sutherland, should as well after refusing to call it cheating.

It's all looking like CA planed protocol to me

A, you, you and you, here are your plane tickets, different flights

B. Bancroft, you speak first, take in on the chin, allow any questions

C. Smith, your next, delay, we will limit questions and bring in a red hering, just get through it.

D. Warner, hot head, you will be in a few days, after Lehmann.

E. Lehmann your on after Smith it's time for the fat lady to sing

F. Let the 4 test begin

Questions

Anyone, anyone,

Now I think I am being prick, I do feel for all involved but you can't turn back time. I accept CA outcome, although I will be gutted if in time it is revealed other know or were involved.

Cheers David

Maybe sport no longer exists in its own right.
Sport was played and if the individual excelled you got a medal, if the team excelled you got a flag and the premiership cup. One and all celebrated in the spirit of the game.
Now it has been revealed CA will be $20 million leaner due to sponsorship withdrawal.
Have no idea what the ashes are worth and what the winners get but it must be substantially more than the losers ?
So to win at all costs cheating came into the game.

Maybe the 4th test should be abandoned?????

Even worse, CA are going to continue to pay these clowns their retainer until their contracts expire.
