You are allowed to remove your wheels and tyres and any other Accessories that you have fitted before you present your Pajero to MM OR change wheels and tyres at your dealer... These tyres and wheels are supplied by MM ...

I wouldn't be going any where near a MM dealer at the moment... MMA(America) and MMJ(Japan) have advised Owners in those Countries, to hold off as they are looking for parts for a Fix...

But MMAust are going ahead with the buy-back... Most Australian owners are waiting ATM for the 'Fix' to come through...

Also If you refuse their offer, MM (by law) have to notify the ACCC and your rego will be cancelled in due course...

I have been reading some of the offers and Most are quite reasonable, so far... And Yes they are using the Red Book as a base...

and some have even tried to swap steering wheels and dash, only to be caught out...

Lucky We didn't Graham... ;)

Funny how EVO's have the same airbag canister but are Not involved in the Buy-back... perhaps they can't afford a $100,000 buy-back Price... :/

LW, got a call from the local Mitzi dealer, either bring the vehicle in or we are prepared to come and collect, if you bring it in you will need a means of getting yourself home, there are no loan vehicles available, yesterday the dealer had to drive one person who took the vehicle in back to Ulladulla, about 70kms south, when he rang Mitzi about how the owner was to get home, they told him that the "service" vehicle that normally does that would have to come from Shellharbour, about another 70 kms up the coast and it would not be available until about 3pm this afternoon.

No one seemed impressed as Mitzi themselves are not returning calls to the dealers who are being left in the dark as to what to do. I have signed as refusing their offer of buy back, but was stopped from saying what I thought of the whole episode. Son is very happy with the farm "ute", all done and dusted now, wife is very happy with the Mazda BT50. Lots of get up and go and on a run yesterday 10 litres to 100 kms. Feels stronger and sits on the road better, but is a longer and wider and getting used to the auto gearbox is a bit of a challenge. Thanks for the help LW. :Y: :Y: :perfect:

No worries Graham, Glad you took the route that you took... Has the Missus driven you around yet?

Dealers and Owners are the ones who will be well and truly screwed over in this. Hire cars are part of the Deal, yet not too many seem to be available... :)

And Thank-you too Graham.. ;) :Y:

Just found out that our 1999 Mitsubishi Pajero is on the list for faulty air bags. Apparently Mitsubishi has decided to do a buy back at market price of the cars affected which means that will be less than $4000.00 for our car that has done just on 150000 kms, has 4 new tyres which have done 2000kms and numerous other accessories, so we are being forced into selling as there does not appear to be any other air bags that can replace the current ones fitted. I am not allowed to disconnect the air bags as this makes it un-road worthy, this being the first vehicle I have owned fitted with air bags and have been driving for the past 60 odd years cars that did not have them fitted and a lot less safety features and have not had an accident.
NOT HAPPY JAN..... :poop: :poop: :poop:

Graham

i talked yesterday with nrma and they told me my car is already not cover from insurance since mitsubishi doomed my car unsafe and told me to stop driving it. airbag connected or disconnected , it doesn't matter. and they said rta won't probably renew my registration either, which is due in a month time.
mitsubishi doesn't give you any offer until you give in the car, it's a completely ****** up situation.
anyone know of any class action starting? we cant let them screw us over like this.

Yes I agree about some sort of Class action.... Problem is getting every Owner affected on board.... Its like herding Cats.... Most won't follow...

As I said above, stay away from Dealers for the time being... there are fixes being worked out overseas, so why not here as well... Its way too early for the RTA to be involved as the re-call is still Voluntary... Untill it becomes Mandatory, they won't cancel rego YET... Insurance I can understand...

MM has told you BS... They will give you a buy-back price,... its up to you if you accept it or not.... If not you will need to sign a form stating that you disagree with their value... Some have got offers over $6000 with all accessories Removed... People Have got a buy-back price, then driven their cars away to remove bits and pieces, then driven back... Try another Dealer as some are NOT playing fair.. Especially with the 'Loan' car......

No class action as yet, but there is a motion to send MM Japan a complaint letter with a few thousand signatures as Japan has been very apologetic, but MM Australia couldn't give a stuff about you... And Japan won't be happy with the way Australian owners are being treated...

Here is the place to watch if class actions start... Lots of unhappy owners and 23 pages of reading... And stories of their experiences dealing with these 'Stealers'....

lot of experts here

1. I watched the episode, they mentioned the lady who's car is in a holding lot which will be given back to her as soon as she signs the waver. BMW is not impounding cars, you don't have to take it there. You can choose to accept thier offer or sign the waver and take your car.

2. I saw your last post before you edited it, reread my posts in this thread, NOWHERE have I implied I know anything more than a mechanic or know anything about your model Mitsubishi.

3, Grow a brain.

1.
2. They Have impounded Her Car cause she refused their offer.... 'Holding' yard or not, Its Impounded...
3. Never mind... my brain is big enough to know WHAT is going on...
4. Re NL Pajero, Taught by the best... and that is WHY He left PA... ;)

mad tuna what a prick lone wolf your right in your comments any time anywhere the powers to be can make any product including cars not fit for road use a dealer can even get cops to impound a car if it is unsafe have seen it here they pulled cars off the road if the bullbars that were not a airbag compliant some were off the road for weeks so if they deem a airbag dangerous or deadly why wouldn't they remove it from the road by impoundment

Thanks Mate, at least someone sees it from My Perspective... :Y:

Im just posting these developments as I know a lot on here WILL be involved eventually...

You are very right about what you have said... I have a mate who worked at a Stealership and he has said that cops are involved often in disputes with Owners with Illegally modified 4X4's....

It would be a very different story if they banned ex-army vehicle's off our roads... We wouldn't hear the end of it... ;)

Fortunately we've got an ex-RAC Merc. It's a 2012 Vito van and was recalled for the air-bag change. The top of the old steering wheel was badly sun damaged but the entire steering wheel assembly was replaced in the procedure. We're happy but I don't know if the Iveco van or Hyundai iload might be in the list. We haven't heard anything yet.

Our 2010 Forrester had a bad passenger side air bag.
Onto it straight away and had it replaced within 7 days.
It's the Family Shopping Trolley.

Before the rush. O:)
Did not get any brownie points though, More of a
grumble SWMBO had about not having her car for a day.
