Toothpicks after olive oil Dave, still gently, but at least it's not metal on metal, might help with some of the crud whilst it's oil softened ,.... That's what I've used to find dates on a couple of my coins over time (at least the patina stays in place) , I've used it on a few brittanias with some success, not perfect, but acceptable.
Up to you though of course.

Thanks guys. Yes it is a cartwheel. COM. No COTY. For me anyway. Still soaking very little detail just enough to identify. Research realy works. I found this site off an old map & systematicly searched. Only 1/2 eway through it. Might wait till it rains b4 i go back. Cheers.

24hr soak with a lite scrub & whipe.
