Home invasion in Nowra NSW this morning
at about 0830 two young males age approx 16-20 knocked on the front door of the elderly mans (70s) house 2 doors up from me when he answered the door they pushed him over and then layed the boots in all they got was a handful of change off the table
what he got was and trip to hospital broken nose, cut eyes, sore kidneys, neck and back and he will be in hospital for a few days
i saw them walk past my place then run back past a few min later trying to cross the Princes Hwy nearly getting run over a few times by both north and south bound traffic i now wish the cars would have hit them
i have given the cops a good description so we hope they will be busted very soon
all i can say is they are gutless pricks
What the hell is happening in this country

Let's hope they're caught as they won't lower the bar in their next attack, it's only going to get worse.

Hope the bastards get caught. It is getting stupid down this way.
My parents were done by home invasion last year while they were home, the same group got 4 more houses in the block in the same night, all elderly people

Scumbags, nothing more nothing less.

The question to be asked isn't what's happening to this country most people (I believe higher than 99%) are of decent character.

I think the right question is what's wrong with our legal system, too soft in my opinion way too soft.

With a correct and proper sentencing/legal system we might be able to better our future. I fear if changes supporting harsher sentencing, gaol's to house the worst offender's for life until they die don't take place we will see societies values decline and as a result more of the above examples more often.

I hope I'm wrong on the more often comment but my gut feeling is it will happen.

I dont know about other areas but down here there just seems to be to many people for the infrastructure to cope with.
Too many people, not enough jobs, schools over filled so kids do not get the attention they need, doctors and hospitals overbooked and under staffed, roads and highways that cant cope with the amount of traffic that is around, gaol's that are full, police force seems more concerned with handing out speeding tickets than doing basic patrols over town. Combine all that with an ever increasing ice and crack problem and there is no wonder crime is on the rise.

Maybe i am just becoming old and grumpy :p

Not old and grumpy mate, just getting frustrated at the "system".

The first problem that needs to be fixed is for the legal system to be substituted for a justice system. The present system is a joke and is designed to keep criminals out of gaol. The cops know it is a waste of time charging most criminals because the "legal system" will see them get off scott free most of the time. People need to be held responsible for their actions or they will think there are no consequences to their actions. The punishment for a crime should be severe enough to be a deterrent otherwise it is a waste of time.

If these two maggots do get caught there is no way they would be put away. If it is their second or third conviction they may get some community service which they probably wouldn't do anyway otherwise the worst they would get is a good behavior bond. Give Judges the power to impose a 12 month stint in the Army for first offenders and watch how the crime rate drops.

12 month boot camp at age 16 mandatory.....now there's a good idea. I actualy suggested this to a local representative back in the mid 90's he said that the govt was looking at it but that he didn't think it would happen becsuse of the amount of opposition to it.

What we need unfortunately, is for a Judge to become a victim... Then, they will feel the impact these F#$%s cause to people..... The Terror that these type of Scum cause stays with you forever.. ....Now There's is a good idea....12months in the Army....Mmmm.... We will be living with this type of s$%t for a long time yet...

Being in boot camp would sort out a lot of these little gremlinlins. They teach comaradery, sticking together untill your life depends on if your mate dies or you, you will look after your countymen family and mates.. That is what should be tought at an early stage in life......the dissiplin in schools these days is as weak as dishwater. That is a big problem there from the start.

It goes way back - we just think of the now. My druggie neighbour raided my house in Aldgate, SA around 25 years back. I suspected it was him, and returning to town from a surf a week later I saw him sprinting across the main drag with a copper close behind. Ended in a dusty tackle on the roadside, with him being marched back to the station. His 4th conviction and evading without time in stir, with some of my gear found piled in his ex-girlfriend's bedroom - I got only a bit back - he'd sold the rest. He'd even ruined my best pair of motorcycle gloves by trying to flush them down the loo - now that's life right there!!!! He was still out when I sold up and left town. Aggravated assault and you go all the way down I'd say - 1 strike - that's it you firetrucks!

in the day thats how it was
i was on the end of a size 10 cop boot more times then i care to remember and when i got home i got it off my old man because the cop had told him what i had done so i learnt dont screw up
my kids were brought up the same way screw up you cop it must have worked my daughter has been in the navy for 11 years CIS Operator/boarding party my son started as a navy clearance diver and is now a federal cop
growing up my kids called my house a concentration camp my point is tough love works if done fairly and there should be more of it
there is a place for the do gooders but at this time they have to much say in what happens
kids these days get off with a slap on the wrist while a old man is in hospital all beaten up
i agree when it happens to the do gooders (and i do wish it would) they may see it from our point of view
it needs to be fixed

No matter how far back you look into our history there will always be crime and criminals. No matter how harsh the penalties are there will always be people who will commit crimes whether it be out of necessity or just bad people. I agree that our laws in NSW need a real overhaul. In my own personal opinion I think that we need to get rid of the current 'maximum sentence' and implement a 'minimum sentence' structure. We also need to make it easier for Police to arrest and charge criminals. There are way too many 'restrictions' implemented by so called learned people protecting criminals and making things harder for police to enforce the laws of the state.

Unfortunately Wishful there not allowed to have discipline in schools nowadays . Discipline should be taught by parents not left up to teachers which seems to be a more and more prevalent situation in these times. Yes my wife's a teacher and bloody good one by all accounts but there's always the kids and family's to go with them that have a massive sense of self worth and entitlement.A nd here in lies a lot of the problems in modern society. Get tired of hearing the government and parents blaming the ills of the world on teachers as there an easy scapegoat.
