Mediuml straight shilling down,..great going Gp,... specially for flogged ground (musta been done by blind freddy on a bender previously ). :D

Yes it has been flogged many times over, though you have to realise those results are from 5 hours of gridding over quite a large area, so not a very good strike in the scheme of things, especially considering the density of pre-decimal coinage when I first detected this area. ;)

I wouldn't want to give newbies the idea that finding pre-decimal coins is necessarily an easy thing, though put a decent effort in, be thorough, and you should be rewarded.

Here's the shilling cleaned up. :)

Picked up the waterproof cover for the Deus control box today, thanks to Pommy Down Under for the idea and seller link. Fits nice and snug, and the controls are all still very easy to operate, and the audio is also still clear. :)

Also spent a fair amount of time going back and cleaning my 50% silvers with the citric acid, works very well, though not so well on the .925 coins. Doesn't seem to have much effect on the black oxidation, and is mainly only good for the copper oxidation on the more recent coins. And yes, the photo is blurry, but you get the idea. ;)

nice collection.
have you got a florin ring Goldpick? im gunna get one, thought i might use one i find but dont want to use the one i just found as its the only one i have.
so when i get a few im sending it to S.A Bogan :) , i dont care if it doesn't fit either i just want one.

They came up looking sweet GP,... I've got to get a new tin of CA before I get onto my lot. ;)
numpty, the first florin find coin ring would cetainly be a great way to remember which one was your first over time. :p

I'd always hang onto my first florin as a keepsake, I think SABogan can even supply one at minimal cost if you don't want to use your own, or can't wait. :)

Bit of a disappointing detect today, really struggled in the heat plus didn't help that the coins weren't exactly flowing. I had a sniff around where I picked up the previous 1879 shilling, and the area had nothing more to offer other than some lead, a few buttons, and what must be the smallest pocket knife I have ever seen. Back to night detecting might be a good idea.

On the upside, we noticed that there were a lot of apple trees bearing fruit alongside the old highway, so we ripped into them for a snack on the way home. ;)

That is a small knife,..... 1&1/2 pence long.
And at least you scored a penny Gp. ;) :D

Didn't feel like wandering to far from home tonight, so I hit an extremely junky park that is used partly as a carpark for some local recreation facilities. Still digging plenty of those damned crown caps that sound so very tempting (especially the flattened ones), although I have found if you pull the coil back when over the target, the ID number drops off very quick vs a coin which will still hold a reasonably steady ID. Unfortunately curiousity usually gets the better of me, and I did them anyway. :|

Anyhow, still got a respectable number of goldies, an MP3 player and a part pistol grip from a Texan Junior toy pistol - all good fun. :)

Dirty looking dirt there too Gp,...I used to thinkI had the screw caps beat until I found that $1 & $2 coins very near the surface were doing the same signal feedback overload,... dDon't know how many of them I walked over during that stage of the gamez.... it lasted for quite a while and covered a whole lot of ground too.
$14 in goldies is still a good hunt into tje coffers. :D

I know what you mean. Soeetimes they sound and read more like goldies than goldies do! I'm digging more and more iffy ones that I'm sure are crownies...and some turn out to be goldies!

Does the deus do a better job in this respect than the etrac?

good hunting mate, i'd throw the bangle looking thing away, it looks like someones rooster ring..... "c@#k" ring. :D
