That gritty clay layer may well be holding a few gold finds, sounds ideal for detecting. Did you get many sinkers out of that layer?

Hey GP, no sinkers at all mate, and no coins in that layer, they were all down toward the water a few metres from it, they must have been sitting on top of it.

Hit Manly beach for a few hours today and only got 2 bucks and a Porsche. Then stopped in at the honey hole on the way home and did better in 1 hour there than 3 at Manly. Straight back onto silver at the HH.

Damn plated rings make me grumpy. :lol:

Back to the honey hole for 2 hours today, was really windy and I'been sick with a cold for a few days, had enough of the wind and packed up early to head home and relax.

Got a couple of penny's, a shilling, a sixpence and a garnet and silver ring, pretty similar to the last one I found but not quite as nice.

Cute little ring, looks reasonably old too. At least you managed to get out, we've had the wettest july for 40 years down here.

That's a bummer GP, has been pretty wet here too but not this week, the ovals have only just started drying out enough to detect. I noticed the big storm cell moving in on SA yesterday, no fun at all swinging in that.

Yeah pretty happy with this ring, the band is broken but still nice, think I might have broken it retrieving it. It's quite a delicate little one.

Probably already broken at the solder join, it is ususally the reason why they get lost in the first place.

Cheers Sinhof, still quite a lot of area there to do still. Then I'll have to start it again as I'm sure I was leaving goot targets in the ground before I knew trhe CTX so well.

Hit Shelly Beach today down near Manly, was a lot of junk but it seems it hasn't been thoroughly detected properly, there were quite a few 1c coins and old bits of aluminium. Though someone has detected it and maybe cherry picked the best targets as it is a very busy beach and was not as much as there probably should have been.

Anyway I scored nearly $20, a Thippy, an old silver and Turquoise ring, a couple of 20 Euro cent coins and an American dime. No gold again, really have been trying for some but it's eluding me at the moment.
