Probably they got home wet from soaking rain Cheese,...then dried their wet clothes on a rack near the old rock fireplace,... loosing the coins in the process.....(maybe) :)

one item above is a
Brass Book Vesta Case Match Safe 19th Century 1876 the item with the kangroo belt buckle nice,
the item posted is a velvet grip boston garter,
strange this item was found near a 1870 shearer quarters.
I dont know the age of this item, but it looks old.

Yes but there at an end, the 2 places are detected, but good finds I must say
and I do like using a detector, + the history of the places, both place was not recorded but at least I have the answers as
to what they were used for.
It was nice to see a shearing quarters, and not a home in one, where I found the 1874 coin and lighter thing,
And a home in the other with id to confirm.
But the garter, WTF, lol. whats that doing around a shearers quarters,

I dont know all,
but I do know some one had a wedding there as the owners said to me, and with
out asking permission from the owners of the land there,
I thought that it might be from that, but as I see the clip
or garter holder, It looks like the 1870s.
I must say, I will look at the time line for this item and any help please,
I am thinking if its around 1870s then it would be the station owner and his wife,
lol. but all in all it is an item that would have a history I sure.
The time of the making of this item would be good.

Very unusual find, wish I knew the story behind it - could be quite raunchy. :D Have you ever tried detecting under the shearing sheds, I know they are probably filthy stinking places, but I have it on good authority that some excellent finds can be had from such locations. Just imagine all the gear that might have slipped out of shearers pockets over the years. ;)

What I am thinking is that the boston garter was used by the shearers to hold there,
I could say socks up to stop the burr in the wool scratching there legs,
As shearers moved from station to station and up nth of here the burr would have been a lot in the wool,

I did find the old shearing shed but it is all gone now a day, only ferrous signals there,
But I did find broken shearers blades there.

Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills
the pills contained herbal ingredients that would help "cleanse the blood,"
as "impurity of the blood" was believed to be the cause of all disease.

I did see an old bottle dump there at this new detecting spot,
but as the dog rego tags I found, also from there date to 1923 and 1930.
I will be back there as that buckle is interesting and not fitting in with the other finds.

Hey Cheese I think the Hohner plate is from a mouth organ or harmonica, it looks great. The lamp thingie is probably from a Tilly Lantern all great finds mate well done.
Cheers
Mackka

Woulda been fun seeing that Hohner plate come out of the ground and see the dates on it Cheese. :)

Yes I was happy to see the stamped dates,
It was found near an old 1860s house or out station
as only most finds there are copper studs or horse gear.
But the hohner harmonica well that was played by a station hand,
thats for sure.
