G'day All,

Finally got out today to a park I have done well in previously in a hire car.

If anyone is insured with progressive or is considering progressive because its cheap, I would think again.

The assessor looked at my car last Monday and still hasn't put his report in.

Three weeks and still waiting for a payout, apparently once he puts his report in it will take another 5 days.

Anyway, the hunt went nicely as planned.

$106.60 in spendables

34 Predecimals (7 silver)

2 junk rings

A heap of 1 and 2 cents

2 nice belt buckles.

One seems very interesting as it has knights on it and is very ornate, a lot of details went into this buckle.

I am considering trying to straighten it but don't want to break it.

Judging by the look of it I'd say its 1800's or earlier???

Until next time.

Thanks Ramjet,

His park is about 50 acres and this was in about a 60m2 area.

Still lots of ground to cover.

Killing it once again, nice work. Pity about the insurance debacle, as if having an accident isn't enough to put you on the back foot, dodgy insurance companies make matters twice as painful, if not inconvenient. Hope you get it sorted - are you getting the hire car for free?

Yes mate, they are covering the car hire.

Worst thing is that I just parked it at the front of the house to go and get my remote for the garage door and bang.

The guy was obviously doing over 100 in a 50 zone and the coppers did nothing. Not even a report.

Lucky there wasn't anyone exercising that night.

Impressive when shown like that, got to love a hobby that pays its way.

I've spent all my goldies from last year, all that remains is all the mowered goldies and the lesser denominations. :)

Ran all my undamaged ones through a coin counter; took them all but spat out a sixpence and a Canadian coin I had mistaken for 5c

They should take damaged ones over the counter.

Thanks guys.

I soak them in citric acid for 5 minutes in a bucket and then hit them with the karcher and they are as good as new.

Impressive :)

Remember as a kid, a teacher saying, that the govt prints a certain amount of money, (without having the assets to do so), based upon the expectation, that coins/notes are lost.

Thanks guys,

There are plenty of places to find coins. I found over $500 on the side of the road in front of an livestock auction. People loose money everywhere and the out of the box places still have plenty to offer.

One of my favourite places are bus stops and ticket machines. There is always $10-$20 at each. Every town has a fair of show once a year and you'd be surprised how much is dropped. Google Australia Day parks and you will find at least 20 close to the city.

I think that the RBA stated that 3% of Australia's currency is written off as lost. That's millions of dollars under the ground.
The good thing is that there is less than 5000 detectorists in Australia. Awesome odds to fill yours pockets.

Good luck every one.
