I had to work bloody hard for this mornings finds.
The site was a derelict house ,smashed windows , broken roof tiles, burnt rubbish ,rusty nails and every other nightmare you dont want

1940,1952 &1963 pennies
1929 , 1951 half pennies
9 BB's
And a so far unidentified coin . I guess it could be a half penny, although it is larger than the usual commy & roos found.
Ive been struggling to get clear pictures

I also found these pieces of old printing plates...

One piece is for Dairy Farmers Cooperative Milk Company ... 100 Harris st Sydney

A picture of yesterdays Victora bun head penny.... Still cant get a date (or clear picture)

Now im gonna go check out google to try identify that half penny

Nice finds. The older Half pennies are larger than the more modern ones. I can't find a pic of yours tho.

Bahaha. Lots of people say wheelchair. It's a seated Britannia and the "wheel" is her shield.

Some very nice coins there Sandta, despite their condition. The mystery coin could be a George IV half penny, bust facing left, Brittania facing right. Could be one of three years, 1825, 1826, or 1827.

Very interesting hunt today Sandta. Strange to find a printing press bit without a whole hand cranked machine being there too unless it was bought as a single plate ( or found ).

Is it just me or has the unrecognisable coin got a Gaelic nose ( pointy )?

Keep those padlocks sandta... there's many collectors

I use electrolysis on padlocks to get them working again. Molasses would do the same. Nother great hunt mate

I thought this mornings hunt would be a bonanza for sure.
Leaving home just before 6am for an hour drive to a very remote spot. My research showed lots of activity with over 75 years history.
Turned out to be lots of burnt rubbish scattered accross most of the area with HEAPS of ringpulls.
And it was pretty obvious that a large part of it has been filled in.
Anyway , i persevered for almost 4 hours and covered about 2/3 of it.

'51 & '55 half pennies

Oh look .... '47 florin

This is just half of the crap ... The first pouch full went in the bin out there

At least by the soil residue, it was soft digging,.... and you did score in the silver department too.
You might not have gotten the absolute bonanza you were looking for,.. but the research you did worked and you know now that it was mostly filled in, and yet you still came away with the goods.
Well done I say !
