Hoping someone will be able to help identify what it is

If we have doubt of the brass, I know an expert jewellery shop in Gold Coast named thegoldking.com.au, they have plenty of collection of that.

Wowee. Stunned looking at your hauls mate.

Any chance you could give a newb a few tips on where within the parks you are looking? Eg, in the tanbark around play equip, in the grassed areas, under seats? Or are you just searching the whole area?

Loving seeing all the old coins!

I've gotten sixpences from just below the pine bark. :)
Everyone is usually just looking in the top bit for all the spending money. :D

Gday Spatch , cheers mate.... im glad to hear your inspired by my posts
Every site has its secrets. If your area is old ,you may be able to find pictures of past events in certain parks etc which may indicate areas that may contain pre decimal coins and older type finds.
Research is often very helpful
Many of these parks are still here today and are still being used although maybe for different activities . So where ever lots of people gather, pass through or frequent ,they are sure to have dropped things.
The places you have mentioned are certainly obvious places to look and of course i do check and find things in those places. But , if anyone else has been there , they too will have checked the obvious spots. So limiting the chance of older finds but could still hold more recent drops.
There are only so many seats and benches at any given park so people take up other locations ... Under trees or in the shade of a tree. The shade is not directly under the tree in the mid-late afternoon for example. If the park or area has a hill side, that could be a great vantage point. Kids roll down hills , they climb trees and hang upside down.
You really have to take each site on its own merrits for its purpose.
Think outside the box.
Where do all the people park their cars when they go to these parks?
People getting in and out drop things , they get stuff out of the boot , put it in the ground , knock it over etc.
The possibilities are truely endless.
You may not always find lots, but you will always learn a little bit more each time you have a win and or fail.
Hope this offers a little food for thought
Good luck

Cheers mate - you've just given me a great idea!

Might hit another local beach tomorrow morning, then head up to the car park which is next to a kids playground and 'oval' of sorts where people will put things down all the time!

The bullet looks like the one I found at an old church ( in my thread with last years finds photo..has the box with coins etc ) and I never really figured out what it was. Mine has two rings at its base. Great haul again mate..soo many great finds!

Recruitment post and shooting gallery? Nice finds... and looks like that spot has not been detected much either.

Good stuff, love finding any coins even those BB's, great morning hunt, I am amazed by the amount of pre decs you guys find around Newy

PS you scratched the six pence :8
