If you need square edges and sharp corners it may be an option to fabricate at least the prototype, and then possibly die cast the final product to reduce costs, as die casting would give a reasonable life with the heavy users replacing the die cast section a few years down the track. Ken.

Hows this goin outback, any updates. Certainly interested in seeing the photos that have disappeared from the earlier posts if possible, and be very interested in buying one.

Weve been carrying around a prototype Jackwinder dying to find somewhere to put it to use. This little patch has eluvial gold that looks very porous making it very difficult for the metal detector. We managed to get about ten little nuggets from 0.2g to 0.9g with the SDC but the GPX4500 wouldnt respond at all. We knew there must be more gold there but the detectors didnt want to know about it.

We carefully marked the location of each nugget found so as to find the most condensed area of gold. Then we set about sieving the dirt through a bucket sieve (made from a plan off this site) and set up the Jackwinder.

Mrs M got all excited but lasted all of 10 minutes with the shovel so she got the job of turning the Jackwinder until the first batch was ready to pan off.

Weve never really used the pan so it was a steep learning curve but with golden results.

I just concentrated on one little patch where the gold appeared to be coming from between the rocks.

Here I am busily digging for gold and Mrs M was more interested in rescuing the Devil's Dice.

With temperatures through the roof it was a tough job sorting through the rocks to find a few fragments of gold but in the end they add up.

This hole produced two ounces of gold in little nuggets averaging about 0.25g each.

It's slow and hard going but there's no easy way to do it with gold that the detector won't pick up :Y:

Yes 7.62. I've seen people retire, particularly the self employed, just to go back to work in a few years through boredom. I don't think I could ever find the time to go back to work :) There's always the problem with money because we're not old enough for the pension but that's one of the reasons we seek out the gold. The advantage of a hobby like this is that it takes you out bush where there's no contact with the outside world therefore no way to spend money anyway :Y:

Hi Phil & Sandra , good to see that model Jackwinder is finding gold for you both , as you have found ' there's lots of gold out there that detectors miss .

Using one sure gets you fit hey ! :D I'm older then you , still smoke & drink plenty of grog but can work one for hours when on the gold :p
Let me know when you get home ' I'll give you a call .

Still making improvements including modifying the internals to help the way viscosity effects the dry material ( internal friction ) that contains the gold .
This article explains it for those interested in the technical : https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/dynamic-absolute-kinematic-viscosity-d_412.html

Have Fun

Still sounding interesting. Any progress in 2018/19??

Sorry for the late reply , just noticed your post .
I finished building & part testing the latest model only recently , I've had a good working design since 2014 but kept on trying different ideas & models till last year .

There not on the market as yet , I've got to sort out how to protect the thing .

Below are pics of the 2014 model , worked well but to complicated & expensive to reproduce .

Just to follow up of whats happening with the Jack Winder , although the units development had been continuously improved since the first proven tested model back in 2014 .

I had a recent epiphany regarding perfect efficiency '' ( not religious ) .
Redesigned areas of the unit & after testing the results were better then what I thought possible :8

I'm considering offering some of the 2018 units for day hire at Tibooburra , they will score gold for sure .

The 2019 model is unavailable for now .

Have Fun
Jack ,

Sounds good :Y: but I'm not likely to be in Tibooburra any time soon, is there any chance you are going to put together a saleable unit. Your idea is a ripper Jack :Y: and I hope you do market one for sale sooner rather than later, I'm sure you will do well out of it. To achieve the ultimate in efficiency is always going to be debated by others so long as it produces with consistency on the right ground I'd say your on a winner :perfect:

PM sent ;)

Browsing during lunch at work and came across this project Outback, looks fascinating and see it as opening up plenty of ground all over the place that of beyond the realm of detectors. So many areas have been flogged yet the small stuff still remains.

So where's the project at currently? Seriously interested in finding out more as this would make areas that are not worth detecting worthwhile visiting using a different approach.

Hi Dihusky ,

I will confirm the the latest design is near perfect as I can ever get , seems even better then Wet systems .

Sure will return more gold weight every time on those flogged out grounds that still contain heaps of fine gold detectors miss , ground needs to be dry .

I'm looking for a solid manufacturer of prospecting gear to Take this invention & pay me a small % royalty for each wholesale sale .
They will make monster profits from this !

Cheers & Beers
Jack
