Tibooburra Gold.....a beginners "El Dorado."

I'm thinking of heading up there, I only have the 4500 (I really don't want to spend more on equipment). Will that be able to get the small gold that's up there? Is the 4500 too large-gold-seeking machine for Tibooburra?

The 4500 will be fine.
Even better if you can get or have a small coil like Minelab 8" mono coil, Nugget Finder Sadie etc.

The 4500 is a great machine for Tibooburra. Seeing most of the gold you find there is small I would use smaller coils. Good luck.

Have seen lots of nuggets got by these up there so your good. The 10*5 will probably get you the most in numbers but the 14*7 will get the weight.

Use the smallest coil U got eg 12x7 nf I still like the 5 in fine gold setting up here and the balance of the machine

Should I bring my solar panel/deep cycle battery? From what I've read you can't camp out, not sure if binging a solar panel's worth it.

You can camp on the gold at Mt. Stuart or Gumvale station for around $15 a day. So if you have a solar rechargeable power supply, food and water and camping gear, then go for it.
Just don’t get lost......

Good afternoon everyone. I am what could be referred to as 'a noob' to detecting for anything let alone gold. I am heading to Tibooburra with a mate, later this week to give it a red hot crack. Is it better for an absolute beginner to pay the fees and go to Gumvale or Mt Stuart, or stick to the dry blower fields near town? We have a Nox 800 with only 8 inch coil and Nox 900 with 6, 8 & 14x8. Our camp setup is built to be completely off grid for as long as the sun shines .

May I suggest that the near town blow dryer heaps would have been seriously done over by much better gold machines than the Nox. If you’re set up to camp off grid then get out to either Gumvale or Mt. Stuart and look for shallow creeks or water run off hollows that carry the tiny gold that the Nox should pick up.
Apart from quartz species in the dry blow heaps, any small gold would have settled fairly deep, so raking them down would improve your chances.

I wouldn’t say one is any better than the other, but only that the BEST place is where YOU find gold.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will, mate. Unless you've got permission from a landowner wherever you're going? SA is very restrictive about detector usage within the state:
