You'll have no problem in QLD because it's not powered. It's a hand operated machine and they can't argue with that.

Thanks Diggit , Dirt Monster & Tathragi :)

Rain & damp dirt will slow me down but wont stop me , as soon as the sun comes out again I'll continue sampling until I find a rich spot then dig a few buckets out & spread that out on a tarp to dry out before running it .

jack .

I like the look of it too.
Thing is with dry blowers/washers (in the traditional sense) is they dont work up here very well because the ground is never really 'dry'.
A basic rule of thumb we came up with was if you grab a hand full of dirt in your fist, and squeezed it, if it made a 'ball', it was too 'wet' for a process like this.
What do you think Outback???

That's correct Simmo , bone dry material after sifted to half inch will allow all the gold to be recovered , damp material needs to be dried out first .

I have used a dry recovery method in the area's I frequent & haven't found any issue with the dirt not being dry enough to recover very fine gold, I target the smaller shallower gullies that don't have a lot of depth therefore are subject to the drying power of the big ball in the sky, no doubt if your going to hit deeper wash there may be an issue?
cheers

Hello Lee ,
Good to hear of your interest still after all this time , this years design is much better then those earlier models .
I'm finally happy at last :)

Was going up Tibooburra way next week to field test but the weather is looking crook with maybe heavy showers , that will close the road & tracks .

I've had no luck with damp dirt testing ' needs to be dry ! but like you mentioned the sun can do wonders to fix that after being dug out .
I do spend a bit of time sampling first & then only run very good dirt through it , saves time & energy :D

Well just got back from Tibooburra , stayed in the caravan park and went out to test on the common , there were lots of folks out there using top detectors getting the odd sub-gram bits .
Spoke to a couple who have been going there every winter for many years ' they said the the 2300 has taken more since it's release then all other machines .
The reality is that the common has been hit so hard it's now getting difficult to score even a few grams over a week !

I did well using the winder over just 4 days , the ground was dry enough thankfully , took a few videos of the action .
Tried to upload to this site but the limit is 2024 KB , mine are 876 MB average , tried photo-shop but they are a 500 MB limit .
Will not be using Utube as I don't wish it to be seen everywhere :(
I'll figure it out .

jack

Sounds good OB how much did the winder produce in the 4 days, you could put up a photo of the finds. I'd like to see the video when you get it sorted.

Are you any closer to a model you'd be happy to sell if so I'm still keen :Y:

Hi RM ,
Still have to weigh it all up ' still have fine stuff in a snuffer bottle mixed with black sands , drying out that mix before trying to get rid of the sands .
I was only bothering to save the pickers & washing out all the tiny bits like a d@#khead :8 did wake up later on .

Would have got about half an ounce I think , have already given my mate some of the bigger pickers , I only put through a small amount of material all up .

The unit is close to ready & only needs a couple of small modifications now .

jack.

Good stuff!
I know you made it a manual winder for legal use in your state, but for those of us in states where motorized versions are legal, would your unit be able to have a motor fitted easily enough?
And would it benefit from being run faster?
