So it's cracking screen faceplates now as well as endless firmware problems? [facepalm]. Sounds like poor engineering both inside and outside, to me. To my knowledge, you were the very first to raise a red flag about this machine, John, and I know how much it must pain you to see Whites let themselves down so badly, when they desperately need to make a great leap forward before the newer European manufacturers eat all of their business.

It's a sad state of affairs that this clearly beta-version detector was released to the public before extensive, independent field testing was done, much less at the premium price asked for it here in Australia. When all is said and done, as a single-frequency VLF, it's only a new version of an old song - how hard should it be to get that right?

Apart from the issues you have listed they now have another problem which they have not told anyone apart from the owners of the machines and that is why it is withdrawn from sale ( Out of Stock ) lol.

I tried to warn everyone when they compared it to the MXT because I tested the life out of the MXT with over 5000+ hours using and testing, and when they posted that video I can even tell you the setting they were using just from the sounds,

It has been an all round pain in the Backside because I have had to bitch slap a company I thought a lot of because they have not done the right thing by people and the complete denial was bad enough but when you ask a question and they start talking about someones finds and ignoring you completely that just fired me up even more, it's nigh on 1500 bucks and it is on par with a Kmart special, I had one here for 8 days and it was useless,

They were proud to announce that they had fixed the pin point QUOTE " it can now see a US Quarter at a Full 12 Inches In The Air" well they might be impressed but I'm not, Because when you consider that the Pin Point mode is the most powerful mode on a VLF, So I got the same type of coin and Tested the MXT and it was picking it up at around 19 inches, So I told them that and Asked the If the pin point mode it the most powerful mode and it can only do that at 12 inches then how on earth is it going to find deeper targets And they ignored me, And what they failed to tell people Is that when you turn the Gain down it also turns down the Pin Point Depth, So with all of that and 3 software updates and a cracked screen this could not be any worse if Spielberg had written it, and with the new problem they have had no choice to Tell the Dealers it is Out of Stock,

Not to mention the backlash I copped because I would not let it go because I wanted them to do the right thing and withdraw it or come clean about it, But the latest problem has force their hand and now they have no choice.

Seems not all dealers are aware. Kellyco, Joan Allen UK & Goldsearch here are a few that still have it for sale/in stock online.
I hope nobody in Australia purchased one of these lemons, for want of a nicer word, as there is enough issue with repair/replacement in the US.
Shame that it's gone this bad. The 2 Whites machines I had owned previously were pretty much bullet proof & operated as expected. I had been watching this machine with interest at the start as I was hoping Whites would come out with something great but like Grubstake said it was obviously just a new version of an old song. They botched it badly & if they can't handle a relaunch of a single frequency VLF what hope is there that they can put a PI out to meet our expectations.
The ex movie man has been very quiet of late. Possibly ran out of hot air to blow up buyers *****?

Joan Allens lost their Whites Dealership back in 2010/11 because of Something they did, and they only have a few bits that they get via 3rd parties, Also they got in to a conflict with ML and lost the soul imports franchise and Now Crawfords metal detector are the Importers now and their prices are way up there now,

Regtons are the importers for Garrett and Fisher and XP and they were the Coiltek importers but they stopped doing them which is a great loss because I really like their coils and Crawfords are the imported for Minelab, Nokta and Makro and the best Dealer I have found to date is Detecnicks who have been running for years and not related to the people who make the pin pointers although they use the name the spelling is different, which annoys the shop because when some one has a problem with a pin pointer etc they call the shop all hot under the collar just to find out they are not the same company, lol. So If I want a Garrett or what ever it has to come from Regtons or they supply my dealer and the same with the machines that Crawford sell,

John.

Due to an issue with a minority % of apparently random cracks in the edge of the clear part of the MX Sport housing, Whites has temporarily stopped selling MX Sports models.

The science tells us the most likely cause is the 0 ring is too robust (stiff durometer). However, that must be verified and a new 0 ring tested. We do have 100s in testing now in our rapid aging process. We must assure that it doesnt crack over years, not months.

We do expect to have this issue resolved and return to world-wide sales quickly.

We would appreciate you not making this into a larger issue than it already is as the MX Sport continuous to do very well in the field despite some users software preferences / issues. Thus far, we are seeing less than 10% of MX Sport owners returning their units for anything, a clear sign MX Sport issues are not as serious as one would believe reading the forums. However, Whites seeks and strives to resolve all issues.

With great effort, one can please some of the people some of the time. On the other hand one can easily upset all the people all the time!

Rest assured, Whites will correct any and all issues with the MX Sport under warranty, as quickly as we can assure accurate, long term results.

Sincerely

Steve Howard
