How long between selling that nugget and seeing it on display for sale?P.W.Beck, based in Adelaide but the will insure it from where ever in the country and pay you into you account in under 2 weeks. Have always got better there than Perth mint.
On the rare occasion I’ve used Perth mint any nugget over 5 grams I will smash or drill. Did a tour through there and saw a nugget I got just under $3000 for on display and for sale at just over $5500.
Hi Moneybox,In WA the Perth Mint Refinery is the best place to sell. I believe there may be better prices paid by those doing money laundering. They'll pay for your gold with dirty cash and then cash your gold in at the refinery for a legitimate payment. I won't deal with them because if we do we're supporting crime.
I think the first introduction to the refinery has to be done in person with ID but after opening an account you can courier or post your gold. They pay just slightly under spot price for the gold and silver but the big bonus is that they buy everything regardless how much rock is attached. I was stunned by the payment I received for my black sand.
3 weeks later when I was down to sell another parcelHow long between selling that nugget and seeing it on display for sale?

Hi Moneybox,
Is there a way to understand whether the gold broker one sells their gold to is legit or a money launderer?
Way too generalised, Tyler Mahoney for one gives spot or better. Any number of buyers on FB will pay spot or better. While they may not be businesses many are just genuine honest people. As for rumours? Yes just that -rumours.No I can't give you the answer to that but if anybody is offering spot price you're unlikely to be dealing with a legitimate business. Rumour has it that some of the less honorable dealers are linked to bikie groups and organised crime.
Thanks. In fact, the one here in Brisbane I'm selling my gold to (small gold) doesn't pay spot price - no gold broker, that I know of, buys gold at spot price - but simply the best price in town depending on karat. And that price changes every 5 minutes, according to the fluctuations of spot price. No I can't give you the answer to that but if anybody is offering spot price you're unlikely to be dealing with a legitimate business. Probably that's because these people pay a premium which is "collector's value" and depends on the beauty or size of the nuggets - a large nugget will always be rarer and more valuable and should be priced higher than just spot.Way too generalised, Tyler Mahoney for one gives spot or better. Whereabouts in Brisbane are you selling.Thanks. Brisbane Gold Brokers, in the CBD, but I only sell there my small gold (subgrammers and nuggets up to 2 grams, top) because they don't pay any collector's value for larger/better nuggets. If your brother-in-law's nugget is bigger than 10 - 15 grams, perhaps it would be worth trying to sell it elsewere for at least spot price - nearly AU$135 dollars per gram at the time of writing.Whereabouts in Brisbane are you selling.
My brother in law has a nugge5 he's interested in selling
Yeah, not the right place for sure. That specimen needs to be sold to a collectorThank you - from what you say they're probably not the right place to sell to. His is a specimen with some quartz and ironstone but total weight is 44gms, with gold visible in places on all sides. It may not be as attractive for a piece of jewellery but it is an interesting flat piece and quite heavy - i would think at least 50% or higher would be gold.
