We an around with bare feet all summer school holidays and drank water straight from the tank or hose or garden tap, there was no such thing as bottled water.

Perhaps its changed from needing who we let in to keeping the endless growth going growths sake even if services cant keep up. We used to get all the market gardener immigrants but now we mainly get real estate investors whos kids go to private schools with the grandkids of the market gardener immigrants. Used to work on a pick your own chessnut farm. The old Italians and Greeks would be up on the hill in the hail and rain carrying 60kg sacks while grandkids wait down the bottom playing video games in the car.
