I would say maybe a broken file handle or a handle of some sort. A lot of people would fit a ring around a bit of timber to stop it splitting when forced onto a tool.

Cheers, DD

How big is it,.... not the remains of a shaving brush is it ?

very well could be. Its quite small. THe photos taken were of the corner of a tablet protective case. The cornners are to loop over the corners of a tablet. So about that size lol.
Bit of a boring find. But was curious as it looks old.

I was having a closer look at this tonight and put it in the tomahawk category. It is heavy weighing 106grams.
One side is like malted iron ( darker smoother side) and the lighter side is more course and looks feels like rough stone.
it reacts on my metal detector 57-76 reading.
Found it about 13 inches deep. East coastal location.
Can anyone recognise the form and put a name to it.
to me it looks as though its been shaped by human. Though aboriginal stone weapons / tools google search come up with nothing similar. However other ancient stone tomahawks google search are getting closer.
or maybe its not an ancient stone weapon or tool like i have been thinking.

it would be very cool. i dont think its magnetic though, Dont have a magnet to check.
its rock to me, it was found near the beach deep in the sand by an old walking path.
to me its either been fashioned into this shaped a long time ago, or it fluked it naturally and is the shape it is.
Almost looks like a megladon tooth. but i know its not.
Would be stoked if it were a meteroite

Its an ancient aboriginal fertility totem. The lilla-dik-boolsac, has been found in other areas of Australia. And stop being a florin show-off lol

your funny rocketaroo. thought id throw a few tanned florins in for scale.

Do you have any similar photos you can show me of one of these ancient aboriginal fertility totem?

Did the ancient aboriginies carve this out of iron stone? or carve it out of a meteorite?

I dont think its slag. Found plenty of slag in my time.
i found it on a sand island. So its be brought here by some means
better closer pics in daylight
