I paid more for my divorce than I did my marriage. There's irony for you - maybe if I paid more for the marriage, divorce would have been avoided and saved money - I got trashed? Nah - I love my kids but am I'm better off single - can go bush whenever I like - except when saving for kids' weddings. Doh - this thread is doing my head in! Thanks very much vstrom! BTY - all the best for the wedding - I'm sure you're a top pa and thanks to you, they'll both have a great day and a very happy life together!

Well, I never got married, no kids, but think I missed out on something somewhere. Still, my friends who did get married and have kids say I am a lot better off, but sometimes I wonder.

40 years ago our wedding cost $700 bucks. That included the band , the golf course venue, the grog and the tucker for 110 people.
Myself and my wife paid for it, we were 19 at the time.
Crikey times have changed. 43K Id buy a new boat !!!!

my now wife and i got married a bit over a month ago, the wedding went over two days cost us around $2500, celebrant was the most expensive part of the whole show, best wishes for the wedding and hope it is a very long and happy one for them

Agree totally vstrom, but the Uni of Canberra thinks differently and puts the costs to the average family of raising a child to adulthood at $812k ($ year 2012 and it's rapidly increasing) - and that probably excludes weddings :lol:
