I paid more for my divorce than I did my marriage. There's irony for you - maybe if I paid more for the marriage, divorce would have been avoided and saved money - I got trashed? Nah - I love my kids but am I'm better off single - can go bush whenever I like - except when saving for kids' weddings. Doh - this thread is doing my head in! Thanks very much vstrom! BTY - all the best for the wedding - I'm sure you're a top pa and thanks to you, they'll both have a great day and a very happy life together!

Well, I never got married, no kids, but think I missed out on something somewhere. Still, my friends who did get married and have kids say I am a lot better off, but sometimes I wonder.

Agree totally vstrom, but the Uni of Canberra thinks differently and puts the costs to the average family of raising a child to adulthood at $812k ($ year 2012 and it's rapidly increasing) - and that probably excludes weddings
