Thanks Wall and all others, I finally finished my river sluice, I never realised how much I would miss having our factory with all the gear to do projects like this after I retired. Not only no factory ,but no man shed either. very difficult when permanently travelling around in a caravan. The main body wasn't a problem , no need to weld, just pop rivet all together. The matting as suggested from Bunnings, no problems. the bread crate, asked Brumbies, Wollies , Coles ,bakers ,shops ,sports clubs, Boat club kitchen, all said the same thing, that the crates always remain the property of Tip Top or who ever supplied them, and they had to return the same amount that they received . Bummer, so I tried the recycle people at the tip, no go, plenty of milk crates. finally my nephew who is a chef snaffelled one .(Bloody butey). The expanded metal was also a big problem, after going every were in the place I was staying, that has quite a lot of engineering factories ,and a couple of scrap metal yards, the only stuff I came up with had a very small opening.(no good) So I had to give up as it was time to head north to Ingham Qld. On the way I called in to visit my brother who lives in a little place called Banana , small town with 1 pub come caravan park, 1 servo,a small PO. and a few houses. while I was staying there I gave him a hand cleaning up his yard, and I can,t believe it ,under a pile of bits and pieces , Bloody hell ,off cuts of expanded metal, and sloped as well. he said he picked it up at their little tip ages ago, fair dinkum you would have thought I had just unearthed a 1 oz nugget. Anyway it's finished.
