VEGE PATCH. What's growing in yours?

I use to grow a hell of a lot as the local fishshop would get them from me and I would get fish and chips for most of the year very cheap

It's raining so much that we can't even order a home delivery of fish and chips.

A few more mushroom shots

some lemons ripening

mouth watering red hot chillies

looking like the dragon fruit may swell

and I can shift some strawberries now from my pennywort infested bed

cause I prepared a new bed ready for them (except'n I gotta kill that bit of nutgrass in the foreground too)
I'll put snowpea seeds on/under that centre trellis though

And to top it all off.... a spray of orchid flowers getting ready to bloom

Beautiful mate. The lettuce I planted before the rain is just about ready to be picked (just kiddin) but at least they are standing up and not wilted.

Just checked my lemon trees and one is so laden with fruit it is nearly lying on it's side. The other one has a better balance after it's last prune.

I'll have to mow one day soon... was a bit slack before all that rain... grounds boggy too now

Bit the bullet and bare tooted some strawberry plants.

and that planted half the new bed with the best of them

I wouldn't know... not ingesting them any way. Would need a mushy person to be seen eating them first to know if they were ok or not. But they do look nice enough to photograph.

Last night on the telle it showed dogs were getting sick and one died from ingesting some mushrooms which are everywhere due to the rain. We have been picking them and bagging them on our afternoon walks and putting them in the bin as we have a number of dog walkers past our place morning and night and hate to see a dog get sick or worse.

Orchids out....

It's a swapper, I swapped one of my many purples with a random lady for a piece of her orchid in a tree in her yard.... she pointed out that a piece that had fallen had taken root in the ground under the tree and that I could have that bit. Time has now tranpired and I have new flowers up in the deep shade

I like the results..... kissed the blarney stone as a youngster...

Have planted our next supply of garlic, should appear in the next few weeks.

We take so much in this life for granted when only a whisp away can lay pure tragedy

I think I take great solace from my garden in times like these.... I'd already taken these photo's yesterday.

A pumkin leaf with a full size macadamia nut

Little dragonfly was under the unseen dragon fruit

Small bug on the yellow crucifix orchid flowers

Growth spurt on pawpaws under the bowen mango tree

New growth on the bowen mango tree

But even more lusher growth already on the common mango tree

the other pumkin vine growing where the old chook pen was

up the hibiscus and onto the shed too now

a tendril of unusual vigor springs forth

Its end is jam packed

You can see its girth in relation to these bricks... it's a stunner to see... feeding on well rotted chook manure thats never seen a pumpkin vine... ever

And as the dwindling evening sunshine lights ever so nicely on a chocky pudding fruit

And darts across a weed ridden strawberry patch... lets send some special thoughts for that young man in LoneWolf's post for the tradgedy that befell him :brokenh:

The balling insects are flying at the moment.

They usually are seen a few days before rain.. sometimes I think to myself.... is it after rain. But lets see hey !

He certainly had a Green thumb ..
This giant Elk horn had grown around the base of a very tall palm tree in the back garden of my mothers partner who passed last month probably 15-20 years old..
I put it up on market place to find it a new home and gardener that will appreciate it before the house is sold.

You can see where it was on the palm tree in the background of 2 pictures and its size compared to a 5ft garden rake ..

Now that's a ripper... lot of time needed to gain that size as well (many many years)

I ripped a piece out of one of mine the other day for my neice when she was visiting... sent her home with a car full of plants and the hope of a new green thumb (and a sorry but hopeful goodbye to the plants)
