I have one of those.

The spade I purchased was from Mitre 10. It has a metal pole inside the fibreglass shaft.

Does yours have a metal pole inside the fibreglass shaft?

No, mine was actually a rake, & I cut the rake part off, it just has a piece of wood up inside the first 6" of the pole, neither Masters or Bunnings here in Perth sell the fibreglass handles seperately.

Just a smidge under 17mm, I thought they were smaller than that, funny what you find out when you really have to look !
