Hope you crack the 10 grammer Pete GT :)
Thanks GT. If I do crack the 10g, then I get a bottle of Henshke from both Dig'n-it and mardy moose.
The bet for first to crack 10g is on no matter where we go (IMO) :D
I now have just on 200 finds, but biggest yet just on 9g .
There were no conditions to that bet - only that it had to be a genuine find: :D :D

Is anybody eligible to compete.....?
We do have a few thousand kilometer start but I'm sure if you're all confident that won't be a deterrent.
Then you have the advantage that some of your party have prior knowledge of your intended hunting ground :Y:
We'll be on unfamiliar ground but basically still at home ;)

On the other hand what's 10g worth under the table ]:D

Awsum! You will never forget the trip!
Tip! An extra spare tyre alone without the wheel weighs bugga all. You can get them fitted in a lot of remote places, but if you need to replace a tyre, chances are it will have to come from Kal.
A couple we hooked up with got stuck for 3 days waiting for a a spare to be replaced on his 4x4 just out of Sandstone. For the life of me I could not understand why he didnt buy 2 tyres, and put the second tyre without a wheel on his roof cage.
Check the grease amount in the hubs of your new van, I've seen bearings on brand new vans, that have dry hubs with just packed bearings. Once the grease gets hot and turns to liquid it will be spun into the hub leaving your bearings dry. At least
Take one pre-packed bearing, or at least get a part number off them. They always ask annoying questions when replacing bearing like the serial number stamped on it BEFORE you have got it out!
Jump on the net a google back up contacts in kal for mechanical services and caravan dealers and print it off. This can take a lot frustration off if you break down having the number already.
And dont forget to take some old style un-popped pop corn. $2 a bag! Can fill a 12gal drum! Or pay $8 for a small bag of chips out back. $8 for a 1.25ltr of coke....$90 a carton of emu export beer!
Stock up at KAL.
but what a great trip!

We're leaving in a week. I've been watching the weather and I think we're a bit early. The news showed 40 deg in Kalgoorlie area yesterday and that's too hot for us if it goes on for days at a time.

Will cool down next month.
If you go by the aboriginal seasonal calendar which is usually a hell of a lot more accurate and has six seasons, March is the end of Bunuru the second summer. April is the start of Djeran which is the start of the cooler weather.

Damn windy here (Melbourne) today (so many trees down). I think it would blow the roof off my pop-top camper (Jayco Penguin Outback) if it does that in WA.
4 weeks and counting down till we leave the big smoke. Whohoo.
Have even applied to drop back to a 4 day work week - a big step for me as a prior workaholic - maybe 3 days next year?

One of my workers used to always tell me joke about a union meeting on workers conditions.
The union official .... Weve had a win at the tribunal, from now on we only have to work on Wednesday.
A voice from the back of the crowd. What? Every bloody Wednesday!? :D

Spot on madtuna. Hope the three amigos leave us some

Just picked up the new Penguin Outback, with so much work to do on it before we leave (Stone D-Flector, 160W solar panel, 5/12V charging ports, rear camera etc etc).
All 40E permits received and pastoralists contacted.
We're on a countdown (2 weeks tomorrow), and getting close to watching the weather predictions - whoohoo.
