Pure, refined gold, in a laboratory test setting, yes.
Real world nuggets, less than 99.999% pure, naturally alloyed with silver and other metals, often intermingled with ironstone, quartz and manganese, etc, in random shapes and textures, buried in often mineralised or saline ground at random depths: not so much.
In jewellery, usually alloyed with silver, copper, etc, sometimes to as little as 37.5% (9 carat gold), in all manner of shapes and thicknesses, at random depths, sometimes in saline ground: again, not so much.
