A lot of time has passed since I last posted - had to travel to the USA but didn't get any detecting in - but I did use a shovel!
So this morning we visited a popular Adelaide beach to see what the Australia Day revellers left us - and although no diamond rings we did get a couple of interesting finds...
Let's start off with $6 of moderns, a 1945 kangaroo penny, a coronation $2 coin, and a dog tag for "Bonnie" - but the most valuable find was a full packet of smokes and a lighter - not my brand but at $17 a packet they are now!
We are trying to work out the beach in question and finally got our first clue... The dog tag had contact details on it so I contacted the owner to see how long ago the tag was lost.... As it was not found anywhere near the waterline I thought it may reveal something and I was right. The tag was lost 4 months ago at that location - which tells me even if someone is detecting this beach they don't look past the water and associated beach - the kangaroo penny also found near the dunes - even if a place is popular I don't think it can ever be "cleaned out"
