Best explanation of the centre core I have seen.... "The center core, a brand new booster, attempted a landing on the Of Course I Still Love You but the rocket ran out of ignitor fluid in 2 of the 3 engines and hit the water at 300mph."

I have read these comments in other places...
It ran out of fuel.
It missed the drone ship.
Only one of 3 engines re started.

The first statement I posted fits the other 3 I have heard.

Another little factiod... The Tesla Roadster Wikipedia page has been updated to include it's new fastest speed.... 11 kilometers per second. :D

That's not that fast, you should see my missus driving to a sale in her Getz. ;)

Does anyone know what they use for transmission of video and control systems over that massive distance through space ?

Video transmission from Mars to earth is impressive , must be one fatt Bastd of a pigeon .

Seems like the Mars orbit was well over extended. Don't know how such a company as Space X could make that mistake. Certainly NASA could have checked. They never seemed to have missed.

I don't think I would be in a hurry to jump aboard a Russian bus to Mars, their record is not that great.

So just after midnight for me in WA and 3:17am for the East Coast? I guess I'll watch the replay when I get up.

This is the first outing of SpaceX's recyclable fairing (nosecone), with the new 'catch ship' Mr Steven trying to manoeuvre underneath it as it parachutes towards the ocean. That should be very interesting to see, especially if it's windy in the splashdown area! If they can get it right, Falcon 9 launch costs come down even further, perhaps by almost 10%.

Should be interesting to see the fairing fly back. They were having difficulty with the parachute, hang glider thingy. The fairing creates too much turbulence.
