Well I reckon (fingers crossed) we are over the hump, gut problem from the salmonella is settling down nicely, back to a normal diet. Stimulator has been flipped over and back to normal operations, neurologist has tweaked the unit and we don't have to see him for another 2 and 1/2 weeks. Neurosurgeon is happy, no need to see him for two weeks. Hopefully the gastro doc will give her the all clear and she can come home tomorrow.
Won't know what the hell to do with myself, everyday for the last 15 I've either been in hospitals or at doctors, it will be nice to try and settle into a normal routine.
Thanks once again to everyone for your well wishes and support, it is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Manpa

Glad to hear all is looking up . It is good news to hear that you may have her back at home soon. Keep yourselves safe.

Well it's just on 3 and 1/2 weeks since the wife's operation, she's still a little slow, sleeping plenty but heading in the right direction. She went to the footy finals to see her beloved South Adelaide play today with two of our three adult children, sadly South lost but I'm sure she will have had a good day out.
We are sneaking away next weekend to collect my dear old mum from Bemdigo where she has been visiting her brothers and sisters, so it will be interesting to see how she copes. Won't be doing anything to strenuous, just catching up with relatives.
Next, we are working towards her knee replacement, hopefully this side of Xmas so we can start the New Year on a positive note and get away for some R&R early in the year.
With the weather starting to warm up and Lorraine progressing might get to break out the 705 for a swing shortly!
Cheers

Well I got to play mad scientist today, the neurologist added a new program to the wife's stimulator yesterday which didn't agree with her, balance issues. rang him and I got to make a couple of adjustments on the programmer, all good now.
Told her, any cheek and I'll turn her off.

Talking about stimulators. I was advised to add the Boston Scientific Remote control and charger unit to my home and contents insurance as they cost a "BIT"
The charging setup was $1200 and the Remote was $1400--Phew!!
Rang my Insurance Co. and it added 14 cents to my premium-----Really worth the time for the call.

Good idea, will do the same, all the bills in from Lorraine's op in now, topped $112,000.

Thankfully only a little over 12k out of our pocket, Medicare and Bupa picked up the rest, and yes it's money well spent. Thankful we have private health as the public system in SA only does six of these ops a year, you could be a very long time waiting!

Not sure how often one person has to keep getting knocked down before they decide enough is enough. We went to the orthopaedic surgeon today to discuss the wife's knee replacement, well it's a no go for now, the tests he ran show there is still salmonella in her system and until she is cleared by the microbiologist it's a no go.
Simply put, salmonella can effect implants and you risk losing a leg so as he put it a stuffed knee is better than no knee!
Well it's off to the microbiologist next week and another round of testing so we have appts 4 out of 5 days next week, glad I don't work!

Good news is we blocked out two weeks in October, no appts, no nothing, we are dragging out the camper and going away, even if it is only and an hour and half from home, come hell or high water.

We remain positive and have a laugh, the tide will turn turn and the sun will come up tomorrow, nothing surer. :D :D :D :D
