Hi Manpa
An old wives tale says that Apple cider vinegar 30ml in a glass of water preferably rain water knocks off all sorts of little buggers as in infections also good for 4out of 5 types of kidney stones

Talk about being hit with 'the lucky stick' seems that it never just rains, it bloody pours!! Best of luck for the bush trip, hope you find bucket loads :goldnugget: :goldnugget: , you and Ma deserve it. :flowers:

Been taking Cider Vinegar every day in our morning fruit juice cocktail since I got a clutch of kidney stones :awful: about 3 yrs ago, I now have none much to the amazement of the specialist :power: , wish it would fix my dicky knees as well, but recon that would be a miracle.

Hi Manpa. I had a knee replaced ~ 2.5 years back, and they're very strict about infections getting into the new knee joint, as the body can't cope with infections in there. Even antibiotics are no good once they're in. So, for the first 2 or 3 years after the operation, for every subsequent op you need to run a heavy course of antibiotics - even after mild dentistry.
That's why I smoke and drink so much - nothing can live in my blood or lungs!

Hi BW, Lorraine had her left leg done two years ago, this is the right one, completely shagged. Her surgeon is very pedantic about any infections in your system and we have no problem with that, she was just looking forward to having it done and being pain free. I suggested we cut her hands off so she couldn't feel her leg, she didn't see the humour in that, luckily I was out of arms length at the time.
Alcohol, a wonderful internal antiseptic! :playful:

Well we are five months down the track since the wife's deep brain stimulation surgery and the results have been remarkable, all the erratic movements have gone or are almost negligible, sleep is generally back to a good eight hours a night. Sadly the blasted salmonella infection is still in her system and is proving to be difficult to get rid of, this in turn is holding up the knee replacement surgery so her walking is suffering because of right side knee and hip pain, walking using a stick or aided by me probably fifty percent of the time.
Late February see us visiting a gastroentologist to discuss possible treatments to try and get rid of the salmonella, all her vitamin and mineral levels are good now due to three months of intensive therapies. One possibility is a fecal transplant, this is not usually done for salmonella but may tried under the guise of research. It is effective in treating c.diff and ulcerative colitis and has had some benefit for some with Crohns.
Despite this we remain positive and the last week has seen some good news which has bought a smile to our faces, both of our daughters are pregnant and both are due within 10 days of each other in late Aug early Sept, first time grandparents and two so close together will be great.

Good to hear Manpa and all the best with your wifes recovery, and as for grand kids, you will love them, they truly are special.

Good news all the best with the upcoming appointments. Grand kids are like a breath of fresh air and will keep you well and truly busy in the best possible way. Two so close is something special Manpa couldn't think of a better way to join the Grandparents fraternity :Y:

Twins run in the family one couple on both sides so could be interesting.

Hope your recovery is going well Jaros.
The recovery is on hold s my Spinal Stimulator battery/control was zapped by the defib unit when i had my heart attack on 23 Nov.
I see the Heart Surgeon on Wed to check things out and get on with cardio rehab I hope.
Fingers xed. :)

Well folks the wife still hasn't managed to shake this blasted salmonella and because of it and the delay to her knee replacement she's now on a stick more often than not.
I do want to share though some news that may be of interest to any who suffer with gut problems. Our gastroentologist suggested Lorraine do a gut biome test, this is done through a Brisbane firm called Microba. This is a simple stool test which is then analysed to give you a complete listing of your gut pathology both good and bad and at what levels. This can have a great deal of effect on a persons health, including anxiety and mental health issues. Test results take approx three to four weeks and there are a number of questionnaires to fill out covering, general health and wellbeing, diet, medical history etc.
For anyone interested it is not covered by Medicare and comes at a cost of $349, this is the cost of the test, analysis, reports and contact with Microba to go through your results and put a course of action in place. Website is www.microba.com
We are hopeful the level of salmonella in Lorraines system is minimal and that she may in fact be a carrier, if this is the case it's of to surgery asap.
Cheers

Interesting info Manpa. And all the best to Lorraine for a good result. :flowers:

Cheers,
Megsy

We remain positive, me probably more so than Lorraine but she has done the hard yards for 10 years now. It will turn around and we will move on with our lives and welcome our future grandkids into it.
Thankyou both for you kind words.
Jaros I hope you recovery is going in the right direction and you are improving.

I have had my battery implant replacement moved forward to 29/3. Will be done using local anaesthetic to keep the heart surgeon happy. There will be an anaesthetist there for other ops -to give me something stronger if necessary.
Thanks for asking Manpa. Cheers.
