I am very sorry to hear that Andy.
Please let me know if there's anything that I/we can do.
We'll certainly be here for you both.
Who knows what miracle of modern medicines is around the corner.
All the best mate.

Sorry to hear that Andy, such a rotten illness cancer, hope your wife pulls through mate and gets some good quality of life. My mum's been on chemo for the past 6 months, so hard to see someone you care about have to go through such a thing.

Dignit, sorry to hear of your plight, yes talking about it does help. I know you probably have had many sleepless nights with many more to come and I know this is easier said than done but one thing I have learnt is you cannot change things with worry, you can only cross a bridge when you get to it to it, not before.
Surround your self and your wife with family and friends, seek support, don't be stubborn or too proud to accept help, have a beer with a mate and talk. Financially, go to Centrelink and talk to their Financial Support Officer and find out what assistance you may be entitled to and get the ball rolling early. Looking at your post you look to be about my vintage 57-58 so you should just about be able to access your super if you decide to retire early.
If you'd like to talk, send me a pm with your number and I'll give you a call. Our thoughts go out to your wife, yourself and family.

Thanks everyone for your helpful tips, best wishes and support. Too many to name you all. But, a sincere thanks. This is such a great forum with top members. :Y: :)
ManPa, good luck with the day surgery next week. What an ordeal youve both been through. Youre both an inspiration.

Well I reckon we must have killed a black cat or something, spent 14 hours in A&E yesterday before Lorraine was admitted back into hospital, she has picked up some sort of infectious gut bug which has knocked her for a six. This now puts the impending surgery to fix the stimulator issue in jeopardy and if that's the case we end up with one flat battery for a while and it's back to the medication roundabout which her gut will likely not cope with.
I thought we had jumped all the hurdles and were hitting the finishing line, appears it's a steeplechase not a sprint.

HI manpa have they fixed mas gut bug yet so as to get the op very annoying as i would have thought your characters didnt need testing after all you have been through hoping and praying mate for you both
pagan p

Pagan P, just got off the phone with the wife and they have confirmed salmonella infection which is a notifiable infection so SA Health will be notified and may investigate.
This morning I will be putting a list together of what we have both eaten since last Wed to try and identify the source, luckily I am on a calorie controlled diet and have a record of everything I eat, I just need to remember what the wife has eaten differently to me.
We are not hopeful of the operation happening tomorrow, more likely now it will be next week.
We are meeting with the neurologist in hospital at 5.00 tonight.
Just about to pack up and head in again for another stint bedside and to help out where I can.
Cheers.

Well I reckon (fingers crossed) we are over the hump, gut problem from the salmonella is settling down nicely, back to a normal diet. Stimulator has been flipped over and back to normal operations, neurologist has tweaked the unit and we don't have to see him for another 2 and 1/2 weeks. Neurosurgeon is happy, no need to see him for two weeks. Hopefully the gastro doc will give her the all clear and she can come home tomorrow.
Won't know what the hell to do with myself, everyday for the last 15 I've either been in hospitals or at doctors, it will be nice to try and settle into a normal routine.
Thanks once again to everyone for your well wishes and support, it is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Glenn (Manpa)
