On Tuesday morning I had a bit of a road trip into the Barringtons. I had the permission from the owner to detect an old teachers house and school house. The teachers house was originally a dairy farmers cottage built around 1904/05. The school was built later, 1950s we think. The school was built about 1 kilometer from the sawmill to allow the village children to get away from the constant noise from the mill. The village still exists with 18 houses and is a co-op owned buy the people who own the houses. I know a guy who owns one of the houses and I hope to get permission to detect there soon. It really is beautiful country.
I got enough good finds to make a return visit worth the effort. Let's face it, the scenery alone is enough reason to go up there. Fav finds are the Souths badge and lead donkey.
I have taken so long to post because I've been playing with my latest toy. See last pic.
The old house circa 1904
The 1950s school house.
The nearby Allyn River. Beautiful spot.
