Nice hunt Ramjet, it is a shame those '30 Pennys all end up that way. The three I have found look exactly the same. must be the copper make up in that years mintage.
A beachside hunt with Rocket yesterday. Tried the park area first and only got BBs and a couple of $. Moved down onto the beach to try out my new scoop which works great. Only there ten minutes and the arm cuff on my detector broke. Fairly common with Garrett. I made up a new cuff with some 10 mm poly pipe.
My cuff is still broken on the ACE250,.... and it is still on reverse side out from when I turned it around so that I could still use it,... at least the shorter reverse side is extreemely hardy and still does the job, albeit a bit on the slippery side(only because of its shortness).
Haven't had ,much chance to get out for a swing in a week. Did a quick run to Dubbo mid week for a funeral and not much time for detecting. Got a hapenny and a few goldies in an empty block next to my Sister in law that used to have a church on it, built 1902. Only had a quick swing with 3 young nephews 'helping' me. Her house is built on church land so I'll be having a proper look next time I'm out that way.
My first pic is from after night work Monday morning. Spent an hour or so in a small spot that has given a couple of pennies before. 2 x Half pennies and the smallest pistol butts I have seen.
Today's plans with Rocket seemed a washout so I decided to stay local. Rocket decided to come up as well and we tried spot we haven't been to before. Seemed like a slow start and I think Rocket's Britannia penny and thrip were the first pre decs. Then I popped a '56 florin. I also got a halfpenny 1 metre away and the '47 florin 2 metres away from the first.
The token is a great find. Only my 2nd penny token. M. Somerville, Wholesale Family Grocer, Auckland, New Zealand, 1857
