OK so today was my first day off and I was supposed to clean up storm damage. Rocket tempted me with a detecting outing and I was weak and couldn't resist. I did manage to do a few hours cleaning up when I got home.
We went to a new spot which I'm pleased to say was one of my suggestions. Total for the day equaled my best with 53 coins. If I had realised I would have stayed to find a couple more. Of the 18 pennies all but 1 are Roos. Would have been nice to get a threepence to fill the silver set but I'm very happy with an early florin.
I found a coin hoard of sorts. 7-9 coins, including the shilling and Rocket's sixpence, (which he stole from my circle while I replaced the battery in my pin pointer
), in a circle about half a metre across. I'll have to go the video ref for a final tally. I managed to get a fair bit of footage today and I'll make a video up when I get time. There was multiple targets from the start so I worked from the outside towards the centre. Made a bit of a mess I'm embarrassed to say. Too many holes in a small area. A guy walking through stopped for a chat and told me that fetes used to be held there when he was a child in the 60s. A merry go round was set up right where the coin spill was. Rocket and I guestimated that the ticket seller may have been set up where we got all those coins.
We both found multiple coins in the same hole. I know Rocket found 2 x $1 coins twice and I did the same with pennies. The dolphin ring is just a cheapy. The other 'ring' I asked both Rocket and Mrs Ramjet about. They both said not a ring so I swore at them.
I noticed one of the pennies wasn't quite right. Looks like someone has filed away the outer rim. Of course no hunt would be complete without part of a matchbox car and a piece of an old lock. OH and I found a 20 Euro cent. 3rd one of these I have found.
A good day out. I dub this spot Honey Hole #2. We will return.
