Looks like a nice patch, Danny. Have you been there before or was this the first time?

Hi Clodmaster - whenever in the water its always a new patch , you can never really pinpoint the exact spot you were at last time and everything changes with the tides and sand moving about.

Managed to get out and about, with some restrictions being lifted it was a joy to get a swing in tonight and some exercise . Not much about , but that did not matter . The boys will be happy with the amount of cars dug up . There a 2 town ear ring , 18 k gold in the centre framed in silver . Silver ring , how many variations of this particular ring I have found over the years , but I was excited non-the-less. Small amount of coinage about as you would expect with the social restrictions . The police even came by making sure I was within 50km of my residence.

Out and about tonight , with the big tides and swell I was looking for some cuts . Found a large cut which did not produce anything so I moved a few kilometres along . The sand had been mostly washed out leaving some exposed bedrock . Spent several hours detecting with the Knox and creviceing . Most of the coins are cactus . Finished the evening with a bit of dune work and picked up a 916 gold ring and a bit of pandora silver. ( had a detect 2 weeks ago I will put the picks up in a couple of weeks fellas :) ) . Anyways here are the picks from this evening . Happy hunting .

Out and about several weeks ago before ,and it was one off those nights where nothing was going on , not even for the other detectorists who are usually good for a chat. Not one target after several hours so I sat down and watched the waves and the world go by .

I decided to change tact and remembered a spot several kilometres away under a structure and not to far from roadworks with dirt being pushed everywhere. I new other detectorists would of clobbered the road works but left the area I was going to target untouched , at least I hoped anyway.

Was only about 5 feet sloping to three feet of space , and location was shielded from the elements since the structure was built in the early 1900s .

So I dropped most of the gear except the pinpointer and shortened the Knox . First targets were crusty silvers and decimals , but geez I was excited . 1854 penny popped out terrible condition , but hey I was swearing under my breath in excitement as the silvers were still popping up along with some decimals and a foreign coin . Anyways after clearing the site I went home to inspect the goodies . I new the silvers were cactus and could not be salvaged but I at least had money for big Mac on the way home and the rest of the coins to look at .

Got home and laid the coins out all the silvers were toast except a few 6ers so I used them to make 3 one ounce bars , the pennys really faired well as did the euro because I think I found them right up against the walls . Anyways 3 half pennies and 6 pennies which I will throw up tomorrow . I knew from their condition that they were well sheltered and may not of seen the light of day since being their .

Pulled out the Euro or what I thought was a euro and stumble back a little bit in surprise , fridge near by so instinctively opened it and pulled a fat yak out for a sip while I looked at the date. 1898 , shiny yellow , bit of dirt on it . Horse one side , old vic on the other .

And thats when it hit me , if it weighs 7.99 grams or so , well I could have a sov ...... Ah common fellas I knew what it was when I pulled it out of the finds bag and the fat yaks were leaving the fridge fast .

Anyways Sent the beautiful girl to NCS for cleaning as Im a member of the ANA and get discount for cleaning over a certain value . My biggest worry was the coin making it over to the US and back without getting lost . Well today it arrived and here she is

Unusual soil chemistry , first 20cent piece found exhibiting extreme iridescence under light , although cant really see it with the I phone.
